Turbo kit for GE08

some information/update on turbokit for GE08:

Turbo Kit from Taiwan which designed for GE08 specification has reached singapore:

The seller informed that it is designed for GE08 and possible for GE06 too (this is a example photo used by the seller which i have not seem the actual photo of this taiwan kit yet)

Website from taiwan on a turbo charged GE08- believe it is using same kit which offered in sg : WRETCH Photo Album - jdcars's Picture

I have also checked with an authorised HKS workshop in Singapore which they informed that HKS is working on turbo kit for GE08 - RnD stage.

Question:

GE06-08 based on intergrated exhaust manifold

the stock comression ratio for GE08 & 6 are relatively high (10.4)
- hence safe to be turbo charged ?

must be an example photo since that log manifold would not work with the GE* head, ours has an integrated exhaust manifold.

WOW I'm really looking forward to this. Wonder how long HKS is going to be before they release their kit?

First one to make a supercharger from a well known company gets my pennies! There's no word from Kraftwerks so I'm glad others are starting to make it!

Although I love turbos, the thought of putting one on a Fit kinda kills the purpose of me buying it. Of course, I wouldn't mind at all if I had it done to mine for free, but I would need another DD because I ain't DD a turbo 50 miles a day >_<

The general rule of thumb is lower cr = good for FI. But if you are going for low boost it should be ok. The low cr aids in reducing ping and knocking.

That being said I have seen a few high cr turbo builds. the most notable was one i read in of all places Hot Rod, where i guy turboed his 91' civic hatchback to 500hp with a 13.1 cr for his daily driver and as his shop car. That requires careful and percise tuning. Those old guys may know a thing or two about cars

seriously if everyone is really down in a supercharger or turbo kit and will not bail out for sure when one comes out. Ill go ahead and ask a friend at greddy to try and start making a kit. That's if there is truely enough interest though.

I would definatly reccomend a supercharger system for this car over a turbo.... Even though turbo's sound cool and produce big power, the reliability is very iffy. I had an 02' DC5 rsx S with cybernation stage 2 kit and even though it was fun.....huge money pit! If i could go back i woud go supercharger all the way!

Remember with big power you need big brakes, big time suspension, and bigtime money to maintain the tuning and maintenance+ a back up vehicle is always a plus!

I kinda feel the same way but if I magically had one insalled for free, I'd want to drive it more. I drive my turbo Z 90 miles a day and it's a '71

A turbo car can be just as reliable as a supercharged car if tuned and maintained properly which as mentioned above can be expensive, also turboing and tuning a car with 10:1 compression isn't very hard, even with 10psi of boost. Take a b16 for example, they have ~10:1 compression and lots of people turbo them and push 15psi with a t3/t4.

So what I'm trying to say is I'd turbo one but not if it was my daily driver. Oh and not until the warranty was up.

I see a lot of you guys are putting down the boosted cars but from personal experience a properly maintained system should never burn a hole in your pocket. I have a boosted EP3 daily grinding on 14psi never had a problem just needed a map check valve

Your lucky....You must be good at tuning or have a good tuner.

I had to get my dc5 tuned 2-3 times a year for the car to run safely.(17psi) I always felt that my car was fun but I was afraid to drive it... always worried that something would go wrong. Eventually I lowered the boost but I had trouble with the car always running rich. It got to the point where I didn't have the time to keep up with it so I moved on.

For me these new supercharger systems look very promising.... not huge power.... but would be sick for AUTO-X with a good suspension!
