Window tint with navi?

I'm supposed to pick up my Fit tomorrow (PSYCHED!), so I thought I'd get a jump and read the owners manual pdf tonight. I notice on page 5 it has a precaution on using certain kinds of window tint, saying it could block reception to the GPS antenna. Has anyone had a problem with their nav after installing tint? If not, do you know what brand of tint you have?

I think if it's like ultra reflective tints with metal of some sort lol. Don't worry honestly. I have really strong tint's all over my car and navi is fine.

I figured it was just part of Honda's cya disclaimer, but since I was planning to get tint...

Yea you're just about right, they always come back to blame the consumer for things like that.

Perhaps Honda's disclaimer is bull, but to be safe (since I have nav) I went with Formula 1 Pinnacle, which is ceramic tint that does not interfere with GPS or radar or radio transmissions.

.

I'm researching the various types now, and most places are asking for $150 extra for the ceramic - is that right? Also, it's supposed to be grayish in color - true?

Most places I've spoken with have advised that the metalized tints (energy saving) can pose an issue with radio/GPS reception.

I'll probably go with regular dyed or hybrid, which has a little metal in it.

Yeah...ceramic tint is typically ~$150 more than dyed. I also went with Formula One Pinnacle because I wanted good heat rejection without having to go too dark. No nav or cell phone interference either. Ceramics will also never fade or turn purple because there's no dye in it.

Formula One looks like factory tinted windows. The Huber stuff is supposed to have a bluish tint to it but I've never looked at it in person.

I went with the cheapest thing they had (since it's a lease) and my navi and radio and phone works fine. everything tinted but the windshield for me.
20% in the 5 rear and 35% in the front 4.

just picked up my 5 spd ge8 w/ navi last week and the first mod i did was to tint my windows. 5% in the back and 35% in the front w/ suntek tint. dont have a problem at all with navi or radio reception.

I went with the ceramic tint as well. No problems to date. The only issue I have with the Nav, is that when I enter a Public Place/Business...it gives me locations everywhere BUT California...where I live. Like I really need to know where a Goodwill is in Detroit or Conneticut. At least it's nice enough to tell me that it's 2100 miles away...hahaha! Is any one else having this problem?

yea i was looking up 7-Eleven up the other day and it was showing me some in GA, NY, OK, WA, basically everywhere but the locations closest to me.

BTW to OP, i tried doing a mirrior tint on mine at first just to mess around, my friend works at a tint shop, i drove around it for a couple day and it worked...ok...there were some places, eventho i was on a main road following the GPS, it said that i was "Not on Digitize Road" which more than likly means that i lost the signal. so i swap to ceramic and every since then, no problems unless if im in a new area where they just made the roads like a month ago. I have the latest version of the Navi Disc.

when i first got mine, the disc was scratch and 3 weeks later american honda sent me a new one. the first was a version b n now i have XX.XX.XC i dun remember what the version number is exactly. im to lazy to check the version number ATM. maybe tmrw...

If you are talking about the stock navi I am also having this issue. I either contributed or started a thread about it (don't remember) and it seems a lot of people are having this issue. I suggested google 411. Its a free 411 service and you can get a text message with all the info for the place you are looking for. Then I just put the address in my gps.
