Blacked out my headlights on my SSM Sport

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the forum. All the info provided let me take on this project.

Removed my headlights, was able to do it without taking my whole bumper off. Didn't want to take a chance removing the bumper since I did it by myself. Just removed the upper clips, the one screw in the wheel well and the first three (2 clips, 1 screw) closest to the tire.

Time to bake. I did 350 for about 5-6 mins at a time. Would work loose a section and reheat if needed.

Ummm smells like cookies. Removed the 4 screws holding the chrome piece

Now time to paint. I used dupliColor adhesion promoter and Krylon flat black all from Advanced Auto

Heated everything back up and put back together

All right back on the car

Oh and while I was at flat blacked the emblem to.

Again thanks to everyone for posting DIYs

I got some seal-all from advanced auto, but didn't use it yet. I'm going to wait for the first wet day and see what happens. If I get any moisture in them I'm going to use it. It only took me 10 mins to take out the headlights if I need to do it again. Its suppose to rain tomorrow so I'll see if I get lucky.

How'd you get the emblem blacked out?

I tried to pull it off without breaking the tabs, but no luck. You can get to the little metal retainer clips in the back after take the grille off. But the little tabs break off pretty easy. I used the same paint technique as I did on the lights. Then some double sided 3m tape and a dab of glue in the tab holes

Sick. But I'm with all those who are too afraid to take apart their own headlights.

Do you have any more pics from other angles?

Baking you lights is not really that hard to do. It just takes patience and some time. I did baked open my stock RSX light to do this mod. I also had the guts to open up my $1500 retrofits to modify them.

I'm looking forward to doing this mod once I get my Fit. I'll try to mask off the rings on the turn signal and low/high beam area and just paint the backing of the hosing black.

Looks great but I don't like the flat black Honda logo, the chrome ties the left over chrome from the headlight cluster nightly.
