correct, you cannot buy these emblems from any Honda dealer in the US, unless they are importing them. They are actually off the JDM Civic Type R Sedan.

No one is claiming it is. It's just a fashion statement (and one that looks damn sexy). It'd be different if we were taking the "Type R" emblem and slapping it on the civic.

 

The way I see it if everyone puts a type-r badge on a custom fit then it doesn't make it very unique. Thus I do my own jdm badge

 

The way I see it, though a handful of us have it done here, we represent a very very small percentage of actual fit owners, and on top of that most of us are dispersed across the world (though probably mainly US), so the uniqueness of the JDM badges still holds, especially since it looks oh so goot.
