Passenger Wiper Rattle

Hey guys I did a search on this and couldn't find anything. I just noticed yesterday that when I'm standing idle at a light, my passenger windshield wiper rattles like crazy. It makes a little noise but its bothering me. I'm gonna investigate it more and see wats the issue but just wondering if anyone else experienced this?

I hear a little rattle from the driver seat and see a chatter on the passenger wiper. The metal part.

Mine doesn't ratlle (there is no sound) but I can see it vibrating.

Just weird but usually I don't pay attention to it. If it starts making noise I will take it to the dealer.

That's exactly the problem I'm having. At first I didn't hear it when it was just chattering outside then it got worse and now I'm hearing a little rattle. I'm gonna check if its a loose screw??

The arm vibrates like crazy, but I don't have any noise out of it yet.

I haven't noticed a noise, but the passenger arm vibrates pretty wildly. That arm length and mass must have a resonant frequency that corresponds to the car's vibration at idle. I've thought of trying something like stick-on wheel balancing weights on the underside of the wiper arm to change the mass of the arm.

Anyone think about unbolting that dinky little passenger wiper and tossing it?

It doesn't look like it's big enough to make much difference.....

i think it would look kind of silly with only 1 wiper, and you wouldn't be able to extend the wiper by much if you plan on doing it, maybe an inch. it would probably go off the windsheild at the top of its stroke if you made it any longer

Its weird but it stopped doing it today when I was idling in traffic waiting for the light. I had to rev the heck out my engine today because I had to go on the freeway. The revving seemed to have made it stop because it made the engine idle more quietly. So the passenger wiper arm is weak so that it vibrates from the buzzing of the engine. I didn't get a chance to check my wiper arm so I'll hopefully do it today if I get some free time.

Hey almost a neighbor

Ok, vibration is common, rattling is not.

so

It has to be rattling against something (the 'V' in the pass side window trim?)

If that is the case, pry off the rubber cover with your fingers covering the bolt that hold the arm to the shaft, loosten the bolt (10 MM I think), wiggle the arm loose and reinstall in a slightly different position.

Also love the stick on wheel weight idea as they could be perfectly hidden in the 'U' shaped part of the arm.

Plus if you put Rain-X or Auquapel on your windshield, the wipers will be more inclined to stop in the same place each time (that is why it rattles sometimes and not others)

interesting. i'll need to see if it does that on my 09. haven't driven that car for like over a month so not sure. wife hasn't mentioned it so i think it's within a normal
person's acceptable tolerance. i think we carguys are a tad too sensitive.

Prolly is that, you have had the same winter I have. Wiper gets iced to the windshield or bangs against a chunk of ice during sweeping and they can get knocked out of position.

I noticed it about a month ago. It vibrates like crazy but does not make any noise. It is quite amusing by just watching.

I LOL everytime I'm stopped at a red light and it starts shaking. They all seem to do that, even the one I test drove before I bought mine.
