Introducing myself... hello to all freaks
Hi all... first post...! Today I got delivery of new US Honda Fit Sport 5sp-MT. It's for the wife, surprise present so she'll find out in a few days when she is back from a business trip.
This is our 3rd Honda... 1999 Civic, 2002 CR-V, and now 2009 Fit. This one will replace the 99 Civic, which has been an INCREDIBLY reliable car, and I'm very sad to let it go. The last tank gave exactly 41.77 mpg on mixed city/highway, without even trying. So I'm not crazy about the Fit's mpg rating, but hey, its a great little car from what I can tell in just 1 hr tinkering
First mod will be the horn mod... meep meep NOT OK!!!
EDIT: I think we got a HECK OF A DEAL at $16,500 Out The Door.

...and here is the V -- Yes, we are partial to blues!

And lastly, the 99 Civic that will go soon... only 79k miles in 10 years, wow. And almost like new!

I wouldn't worry about the EPA rating for this car. I currently get 33 mpg city and 40 mpg hwy with my auto and I'm not light on the gas. I am lowered so that might help the aerodynamics a little but I think the EPA are ridiculously low for this car.
Welcome to Fitfreak!

Are you using the gauge calculator, or are you manually calculating it with every fillup? I only trust the later!

manually. My gauge calculator is about 10% off. The last road trip I took the gauge calculator said I got 45mpg hwy I figured 40 mpg after I filled it up. Also note I have 5000 miles on mine. It seems once I broke mine in to around 3000 miles the mpg seemed to get better.

Thanks for letting me know... those are very good numbers, more in line with what I would have expected from this engine/car. FYI, My 99 Civic started yielding roughly 29-31 during the first few months, then gradually increased to about 32-35, and at about 50k miles, it was already hitting 38 no problem. My last tank gave 41.8 mpg. All of this was 50% city-50% highway. Outstanding, just astounding... I hope the Fit gets better with time too. My CR-V showed zero improvement in the 80k miles I've driven it. GO figure...

BTW, tinted the windows today... went with 22%. Not as dark as I hoped, but I did buy the highest quality solarguard with 70% heat 'reflection'. Going too dark is a problem for me at night when I want to park etc. That's what happened with the CRV, so wanted to go lighter... but this may be a little too light. Well, it's done now, so what the heck!
