New Owner as of today!!

Okay guys. Just wanted to say HI, and that I am the excited new owner of a 2009 Orange Fit Sport. No pictures yet, as it is still at the dealership having tint installed, and pinstripes de-installed. It is a normal sport, though it has dealer installed black leather interior with orange stitching. I'm very, very excited. I traded in my 2006 Scion xA (sorry old girl ) and feel that I've had an upgrade! After driving the 2009 (and finding out that I have better finance numbers and cheaper insurance) the choice was super easy!

So I'm looking forward to this site, and to learning as much as I can from you guys about my new car, any pitfalls I should avoid, and and recommendations for upgrades!

First things first...to install or not to install "clear bra" protection. My Scion suffered numerous rock chips and I really would like some protection, yet I really don't like a traditional car bra for numerous reasons. What do you guys think? Must do or must stay away?!

Congrats! Interesting to have dealer installed leather. Pics when you get a chance.

Def. get a clear bra. The front of the hood is a sitting target for rocks (Do to the steep slope of the hood) order some 3m bulk film and do the clear bra yourself. The stealership is way too expensive. I did my lower hood for $20 bucks.
See my sig.

Congrats on the new purchase! I'm curious to see the leather interior, especially the orange stitching to see how it goes with the exterior. Nice colour choice btw So I echo the others - pics when you get a chance!

I agree with Committobefit08 - definitely do the clear bra. I've had my Fit for about two weeks and already have a couple of chips in the front I'm getting mine professionally installed because DIY is not my strong suit, but if you're up for it, you should get the kit. There's tons of info on this forum about DIY clear bra and what type is best.

Oh thank you, thank you for the info! I think I am going to DIY it.

I pick her up today at 2pm! I'm super stoked! It's raining here, so pics may have to wait until tomorrow. But don't worry! I'll get them up.

Once I saw the leather, it was simply a must. I feel that given proper care, leather lasts for quite a while longer than cloth. My wife's Mini has leather...it is a 2003 and since I care for and treat the leather often, it still looks, feels, and smells like new inside. Plus, she's pretty fastidious with her car.

I will get them up soon! (BTW, dealer installed leather runs between $1200 and $1600, and comes with a lifetime warranty for workmanship/material failure...let's hope I never have to test it!)

The leather seats sound cool although I personnally would never let a dealer tint my windows. We had that done when my mother bought her car and the tint is garbage. It is turning colors and wrinkling. Maybe it was just that dealer. I hope you get good stuff.

I've heard good things about this dealer's tint guy. And they threw it in for free after I inquired about it. If it doesn't work out, no skin off me.

My Scion had dealer installed tint that lasted very well, no wrinkling or staining at all. So, here's hoping!

I'm not sure. A local (Dallas) upholstery shop does it for them. Both dealerships I visited in the area were able to get leather done. They remove all the fabric parts (seats and door panel) and replace the fabric with leather. I believe the they told me that the only color the leather comes in is black, but the stitching can be whatever you'd like. This one was done for the showroom floor, so it was already this way when I first saw the car. I would go to your dealership and inquire.

By the way...the car is in my possession! Getting pictures in a few minutes. I will post them this evening for you guys.

Leather interior pics...

Here she is! I'm super excited. Now to get some 303 on that leather so it stays nice! I apologize for the pics...forgot all of my camera knowledge from college...

Sorry for the amateur pics!

I think the back looks especially good. These photos are a bit washed out, I know. But hopefully it will give you guys an idea of how it looks.

You can see the door panel leather in this photo. It has black stitching.

Hopefully these work. Please let me know if they don't. The first ones are visible to me, so I have no way of knowing, apparently...
