GD coilovers on the GE

GD coilovers on the GE

hey guys! nice site! learned a lot already. anyways, i need help. does anyone know if coilovers made for the GD (1st gen fit) will fit in a GE (2nd gen fit)? thanks!

yes you can , but its much lower and you need to chamber your car

I think he means you will need negative camber to prevent rubbing. But to my knowledge the GD coilovers will not work on GE's.

Why would you want to fit GD coilovers on a GE? The spring rates are completely different - as a rule, all GD suspension has much higher spring rates vs. the GE. If you could you'd probably just mess up the ride due to too much springing.

On a related note, I've noticed TEIN's coilovers for the GD are stiffer at the back, just like stock. Their GE coilovers are stiffer up front.

sounds like GD performance struts might be a good idea for a lowered GE since you'd be less likely to bottom out the struts

thanks guys! the reason i asked was because a buddy of mine is selling me his gd coilovers for a really good price. im being a cheap prick. hehe.

For what it's worth, if you take a gander at TEIN's Japanese website you'll notice there are different part numbers for their GD and GE coilovers.

"Cheap prick" tactics might entail a bit more waiting for second-hand TEINs for the GE.
