Name Your Fit
I haven't come up with a name for my red Fit yet but I was showing pictures of done-up Fits to my gf. I showed her a yellow one and now she's hell-bent on turning mine into a bee and won't listen to my objections.

Thought it would get a few laughs.
I fear my Fit will be referred to as the Bee by her from now on.

Haven't named mine yet. It's only been two weeks, but I'm seriously still in honeymoon love and that may never end! At present, I call it baby. This is the first car of many that I actually love. Haven't been dissapointed yet.

Ok I think I settled on a name for my 09 Milano Red Base Fit...
I first watched a video of them disabling cash for clunker vehicles using sodium silicate and it kind of made me sad watching them kill one of the clunkers in a College Hills Honda webcast. I guess its silly but there were memories tied up in that old suburban we scrapped to get the Fit.
So I first thought about naming it "the burban" in memory of the old blue suburban but then thought something along the lines of a phoenix rising from the ashes. Since the little Fits were born in Japan I had to find out the name for Phoenix in Japanese, Hou-ou. And then I learned that it was tied to the Red Bird, the Vermilion Bird of the South, who is one of the four guardians of the four directions or seasons. And the Japanese name this bird Suzaku.
So it seems to work perfectly for the situation:
1) It represents the Phoenix aspect of the new car born from the death of an old one
2) It represents the Southern direction... the Fit and I do live in Texas.
3) The bird is red... Fits the Milano Red color.
4) The red bird represents the season of summer... the season I purchased the Fit
5) The red bird represents fire... what makes the little Fit..GO.
Long post and some of you might find it silly but it fit way too well to not name my little Fit... Suzaku

Unlike my brother, who names all his vehicles, Uncle Gary isn't in the habit of naming inanimate objects. My favorite guitar doesn't have a name (nor any of the others). Even the Harley-Davidson I've owned for 16 years doesn't have a name.
That said, I've considered many names for the Orange Fit, but the one that seems to have stuck is "Penny"
She's copper colored, like a penny, and sure knows how to pinch pennies when it comes to gas.
That name will do for now, until something better suggests itself.

I initially wanted to name mine Red 05 for 3 reasons:
1. Sitting in the driver seat it feels like I'm looking out the windsheld of an X-wing from star wars, which leads me to
2. In Star Wars Episode 4, when the pilots are all saying their call sign, one of them happens to be Red 05, or Luke Skywalker's X-wing.
3. It's a 5-speed, or the 05 part of Red 05.
But recently I've been thinking the car is a girl, so I've been looking for a girl name for my Fit.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to name their kids- ever. For example, Frank Zappa named two of his kids Dweezil and Moon Unit. The world has never been the same since, with mothers everywhere handing out guaranteed-to-paint-a-giant-bulls-eye-on your-child's-back names like Time Warp, Zulu, Skywalker... and Apple.
And by the mid-70s college girls driving their high school-graduation-present AMC Pacers started giving their cars cute little names like Benji. And Cuddles. Eeww...
And now people want to know if I intend to name my car. I'll name my son Steve, my daughter Stephanie my dog Spot and my local political representative history the next time I head to the polls. But my car? Uh, no.

As for my car, it's cool enough that it doesn't need a name. Not to mention it's an inanimate object that I intend to trade in around year #5....
