Seems like i have a 2-legged spider that's hungry and growing.
how much have you guys paid for your replacement?

Ive got a nice crack along the front passenger side. A stone chip just big enough to fail the ballpoint pen test. I personally know some glass replacement people in the aftermarket realm so this is the way i will be going. Such a tiny chip and large crack I wont take it back to honda, i consider it a design flaw. I would just rather change it with something else more sturdy and be done with it. Also being its on the passenger side im going to let it slide a while. Nothing attracts more stone chips like a brand new windshield.

I had to change mine. Aftermarket, gentleman came to my son's house and switched it out for a total cost of 315.00. We priced a windshield through Honda and it was 580.00 without installation. The glass people doing the install would not guarantee the window if something went wrong during install so we went with theirs. I was first quoted 215.00, however a couple of days before the install the people called to tell me that it was actually 315.00 because when they quoted me the price they quoted me the 2008 price and the windshield in the 2009 was larger. They did a really good job, and it looks exactly like the original one except not having the Honda logo on it.

I got my driver side window on my 325i replaced with glass other than OEM. That non-OEM sticker just stared me in the face every time I went to bucket my seat belt. I would reconsider if you are bothered by things like this.

Replaced mine a few months back under my insurance policy, when the only place windshield for the '09 were available was through Honda and their monopoly. Paid $100 deductible. The total cost including taxes came to over $1600 installed. This is in Canada btw.

I have to replace mine in the next few days, didn't get it insured it was an extra 300 a year for me but now I am changing provinces so I need to pass the inspection and my crack is maybe 2 inches total and totally does not obstruct my vision what so ever.
In CND Honda is asking 1400, speedy glass is saying 1000, and then I have a friend who sent me to an aftermarket guy who is saying around 400... but not the real Honda Windshield. Personally I think this is a gigantic rip off! What the hell is Honda doing making a windshield that costs so much on one of its most economical cars, should run you like 300 TOPS. at 1400 its about 7% or the total cost of the vehicle... retarded

haven't replaced one on the fit yet (had it a month only) but we've lived here in VT for 5 years and I've replaced one windshield on the Civic, one on the Ridgeline and Two on the Altima. I also had the Altima chips repaired 3 times (besides the two windshields). We now drop our insurance deductible at the beginning of winter and raise it again at the beginning of summer because we can't afford to replace windshields so often. The kicker is, I drive no highway but there are a large number of trucks that go from a quarry in the town I live in, 20 miles up to the factory, in the town I work in... I usually don't drive that road but, it's the only clear one during bad weather.

I've got two long cracks in my windshield. Have repaired both but one is growing again. The guy who repaired mine says he sees a lot of cracks in Hondas. He thinks they have soft windshields and he recommends an aftermarket windshield rather than one from Honda. I'm going to let the crack grow until it reaches the edge, then I'll get mine replaced.

Yes, you can get your windshield replaced for "free", meaning no deductible is paid, in Kentucky but you must have KY comprehensive coverage on your vehicle. If you only have liability coverage on your vehicle you will have to pay to get your windshield replaced in Kentucky.
So if you have Kentucky based comprehensive insurance, KY laws state that your insurance company will waive the deductible for windshield repair or replacement, which means no out-of-pocket expense for you.
Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 304.20-060 is titled coverage for safety equipment, definition and states:
In these states your insurance company is required by law to repair or replace your windshield with no deductible charged—as long as you have comprehensive insurance on your vehicle. Florida and Massachusetts only fully cover windshields, but Kentucky and South Carolina cover all glass replacement with no deductible.
If your windshield has been cracked or broken so that it needs repaired or replaced than you should make a claim through the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance policy.
So if you have Kentucky based comprehensive insurance, KY laws state that your insurance company will waive the deductible for windshield repair or replacement, which means no out-of-pocket expense for you.

We purchased our fit on 9/6/08.
About 3 weeks later we got a rock hit with a crack.
Honda did not have any windshields available and it took about 3 weeks to get it from Japan. No aftermarket were available at that early date!
Cost including installation was about $1650 ($250 deductible).
It MAY be that The FIT windshield is thinner to reduce weight and improve gas mileage.
The Corvette Z06 has 30% thinner glass than the standard Corvette so as to reduce vehicle weight. I don't know about the FIT glass but maybe.

I love this car but I swear the short cuts that Honda took in the making of this car drives me nuts. My windshield on the 2007 Fit has got small rock chips and scratches all over the place even though I only use Microfiber towels on them and always spray invisible sheild before I touch them with the microfiber. I've never had any previously owned Chevy or Ford glass do like this. Even the glass in my Ranger which was 11 years old looked better than the Fits the day I traded it in.
