Question on +38 offset

Stock wheels are +53. So they will stick out about half an inch further than the stock ones. It wont stick out past the fenders. Get 205/50/16's. Best size and closest to overall diameter of the stock tire.
+38
Yeah you're right. I'd probably go for that size. Thanks for suggesting.
you will rub like hell with 205/50 16"s, why do i say this? Because i have +43s with that size tire and have rubbed paint marks on the back tires from them hitting the inside of the fender wells.
Get some camber shims or roll what little bit of fender lip we have and you may be ok, but stock out the box and lowered will not work.

Hes only lowering it an inch. I doubt he will rub. Even then it would only be on huge bumps. Not enough to get paint on the tires... People here over react about offset.
+38
I'm more concerned about the wheels going out the fenders. I compared my stock rims with the +38, there's a 26mm extension. The wheel would probably protrude approx 5mm... Guess I have to fit the rims before I buy it. Or opt for another set. I would love to slam my fit but we got lots of potholes and speed bump here! :

I'd recommend 205/45x16 tires on 16x7 wheels with 45 mm offset to keep it inside lowered Fit and still get decent performance and mpg. 38 mm offset is too little to avoid rubbing. Needs 45 if you lower.
Ultimate. However, an easier route is possible.
If you use the stock 185/55x16 tires on the stock 16x6 wheels and 53 mm offset try using i/4" spacers under the 16x6 wheels to widen track by one-half inch and changing offset to 47 mm or so.. Much less expensive too as a set of 1/4" (6 mm) wheel spacers cost about $25 at your local auto shops for all 4 wheels. And won't affect your reliability, performance or mpg and will work just fine with reasonably lowered Fit suspension.

I had +38 SSR's on my GD3, sorta stuck out, not thrilled with that.
The +43's on my GE8 is a lot better, very slight tuck on top, almost flush. Pretty dang sure 38's on this car would rub a lot.
Just my humble $.02, everybody has different tastes.

I have a set of 16x7 +38 Panasport rims (copies of the original Minilites) that I had on my '90 Miata that just barely fit on that car. I was hoping they might fit on my '09 Fit Sport that's mildly lowered on Eibach Pro springs.
It's not close. The back isn't so bad, but they stick out a mile in front. While I'm sure they could be made to fit with camber bolts and some sheet metal bending, I'm not sure I want to do that to my new car...
It's too bad, because they look awesome on the car.

Under hard corning, there's a slight rub, but it's nothing major. With a 7in wide wheel it will probably stick out a bit and definitely rub if you're lowered.
