Would the GD front seats fit GE seat rail? If it fits, would we get refresh mode back?

Even with the headrest off there is still a hump? So maybe all the North American markets are all fat-asses...

Thanks, still post a pic whenever you can.. thanks again.

Yeah pretty much every market has refresh mode except the North American it seems...

The Asian markets have RHD and there is supposed to be a height adjustment only on the driver side to make the seat taller, unfortunately for me the seat doesn't go down which is what I would have liked (I find the seat too high as it is and I'm not tall). The European market also has refresh, most are LHD so the height adjustment would still be on the drivers side.... and they also have a factory leather option...

I was thinking about doing a full seat swap with the European leather seats, this way I'd get refresh mode back, and have OEM leather.
I gotta get the part #'s and prices to see how much that's gonna run.

I'm dying to see pics of the GE8 refresh mode, I can't find anything anywhere, only diagrams... I want to see if its a similar refresh mode to the GD's which was quite flush with the rear. Gotta check with some boardies and see if they can snap some pics for us. Hopefully someone will post eventually...

Nope... I asked Dave the same question a while back, and it won't work...

Dave suggested just getting the JDM GE8 seat backs alone (instead of the whole seat) and that would also work and be less expensive. Our seats have some blue in it , where as the JDM seats have red, so it wouldnt match color wise but it wouldn't matter if you're gonna get seat covers, or leather wrap them.... apparently that's the problem the USDM GE8's are 4" taller which prohibits refresh mode... so getting only the seat back will be cheaper and still get refresh mode back....

I've been researching this ever since I found out the GE8 didn't have refresh, and I've been on a mission to get it back...

Australian market GE8 does not have refresh mode as such either, although all it would need would be another couple of inches forwards travel on the seat.

We do however, have the driver's side seat height adjustment.

That's right... you told me that already... thank you very much for the correction.

should be about ~4" too tall for refresh...

I found a pic from the Honda Japan website showing GE8 refresh mode a while back but it wasn't huge resolution. I posted it on a thread somewhere on FF, I dunno if I can find it again but I will try.

Found the pic:

Here is the link to the page it's on. You'll need to click on the Refresh mode tab to see the picture: HondabƒNƒ‹ƒ}bƒtƒBƒbƒgbƒCƒ“ƒeƒŠƒAbULTRƒV[ƒg

Now if only I can find a better pic of long mode as below... without the surfboard in the way...

This is the mode I will probably use quite a few times carrying equipment, and racks... It will be worth it to me to get the seat swap to regain this mode... hopefully it's not that expensive... I'm dying to get this swap done.

There has to be an easier way to do this without needing a seat swap...

You can definitely do "Long Mode" on the north america GE passenger seat.

So far either a full seat swap, or just the seatback swap alone is the only way to regain the flush transition.

Of course the seat back alone would be a lot cheaper...

Yes as well as a revised refresh mode....

The problem is that where the front passenger seat meets the rear seat there will be a hump on our USDM GE8's... the front passenger seat will be on top of the rear seat and not be flush.

the GD's had a relatively flat seam/transition where the 2 seats meet, similar to the pic shown above of the JDM GE8 refresh mode (they were on the same level no hump or one seat being higher than the other)... Where as the pic posted in this thread of the Canadian GE8's appears to show the front seat back on top of the rear seat, and not flush (same level surface).. basically just like our USDM GE8's.

Long mode still works. The seat doesn't go flush, but you'll still get your surfboard in.

I bring home timber from the hardware store like this. As long as it's less than 2.4m (8 feet) I know it'll fit and I don't need roof racks.

If your javascript is working, try this link from the Australian Honda site. Drag the surfboard over the car to see how the seats fold.

Just so you know, Long Mode doesn't sit *flush* in the GD3 either. All it is is reclining the front seat all the way back on top of the back of the rear seats (which are folded forward / down).

If you take all the headrests off it still isn't flush? Can you post a pic of your GD3 in refresh mode and long mode... I could have swore it was flush but then gain it's been few yrs since I test drove it...

Are you sure its the back rest being taller and not that the rails go farther forward? Maybe you guys can just change out the rails with euro ones.

OR maybe you can just move your rails farther forward. I dont know if there is enough clearence, as i am an owner of a gd3.

here is how i tilted my dirvers seat....

there is only one refresh mode. the latest pictures show it , the earlier ones do not.

i personally have used refresh mode once. worth a seat swap? ha! come on guys. you can say you use it as much as you want, but before you had the fit, you did without it.

all the best USEFUL seat configurations, the ge8 still has.

Yeah I'm starting to think the same...

Is your long mode flush w/o the headrests? or is there a little hump on your GD3 as well?

According to JDM_DOHC_SiR the actual seat back is ~4" taller on the non-refresh GE8's... I believe that's the problem.

nice DIY btw.

I'm convinced that this is a stupid engineering oversight.

I mean really. The front seats, both of them, fold all the way down... and the headrests come out.

Are they really serious that it doesn't do this??

We're just talking about a couple of inches.

Is it really that much of a difference that the Japanese market is designed for the smaller average height and weight of the population?? I mean we're only talking about 2-3 inches here! Human height - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Or is there some other sort of safety regulation or engineering problem involved? Such as the seats proximity to the dash, airbags, etc. It seems to me that if the brackets were shifted just a little, this problem would be solvable.

Oh, as far as other markets .. I checked out Honda (UK) and did not see the refresh option mentioned. So I don't think they have it in the UK... what about other markets??
