I Can Drive @ 55 !!!

Picking up my TW Sport AT Saturday morning. I'm 55 years old and this is my 2nd new car, with my first being when I graduated from Penn State in '75. My car of choice then................ '75 AMC Pacer X .......... biggest piece of junk I ever owned, but I thought it was hot back then.

Cash 4 Clunkered a 1998 Ford Taurus Wagon which was still in great shape with only 65K, but sucked gas like a stock car. I feel kind of guilty knowing it will be mulched but I'll get over it.

Looked for two weeks for a car................there is nothing left in this area. Was looking for something good on gas and fun to drive, with the Honda dealer being the only place that had anything..........I think because they don't drop much from the MSRP. Plus, it's a big Civic / Accord area..........the old man will be pretty much a lone wolf, being picked on by the ricers.

Got cold feet this morning when the news stated C4C decided to start letting you order a car from the dealer, if they have none in stock. I thought, "Should I go order a Focus, Corolla, Matrix........?????"........I was hyperventilating.

Then I thought to myself "I'm sticking with my pick !!". I read to many good reviews here and all over the web to turn back.

Got my flash drive loaded up with some Beatles, Zepplin, Floyd, etc. and am going to reenact the first cruise in the Pacer ( then the music was on 8 tracks ...... god bless technology)

Wish me luck !!!!!!!!!

Good call. I'm 43 and the sounds coming from mine include Supertramp, Yes, Deep Purple, the Stones and Fleetwood Mac, so I think we're working from the same big playlist.

I'm 40, loving this car, and my $20 USB Mp3 player is full of old and new. LMFAO is on there for my oldest of 3 kids...gotta "stay in touch." But, I secretly listen to those clowns when i'm in the car...which is odd for this 80's metal head dude.

From another 50 something - gald to hear that you went with the Fit but don't be surprised if people still try to street race you in the car. I've been asked to race against all kinds of guys and their muscle cars. I just ignore them and drive on - ok so sometimes at the stop light I can get it going pretty smoothly and look up and think why are they all still sitting at the light? LOL!

That pacer had about the same glass area as the Fit!

Your playlist reminds me of my first concert... Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" tour. A friend insisted on going, but i wasn't sure I wanted to shell out the $8.50.

I've got to figure a way to plug in my Marantz 2230 receiver, BIC 960 belt drive turntable, and a pair of Infinity Qe speakers. Then I'm going to put some Journey on.

There were several articles in this mornings paper, since this weekend is the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. Tickets to get in were $15 for the few people that actually paid.

Last month my daughter and I went to see the Def Leppard, Poison, Cheap Trick tour..........decent seats were $125 each, with all the added ticket charges taking them up to $150 each !!!!

Late fifties ipodder here. Spent 400 Fit miles yesterday playing tunes and listening to XM channel 40.

Nothing better than tunes on a road trip.

Cheers.

My problem is trying to figure out what to listen to. With over 26,000 songs in my library, it usually winds up being the classic rock of the past.

Yesterday, I loaded up the Fit with 2 guitar amps, my Les Paul, my SG and a bunch of other gear and played two back-to-back gigs with my classic rock band. We did a wedding in the afternoon and a rockin' private party-with fireworks and a bonfire-that night. The only thing better than listening to great classic rock is playing classic rock with your friends.

Of course, I'm old enough that when I started playing this music, it was just "rock".

I also just added LMFAO to my flash drive and I am 44. Not for my kids, for me. I also have BB King and Styx's Mr Roboto playing in my Fit and from Mickey Avalon to Led Zep. I live in NYC, so there is always a race with some taxi at street light.

Another mid-fifties Fit-ite here. Mine plays mostly Celtic traditional music via the jumpdrive plugged into the USB in the upper glove box, though it vibrates to a good bit of rock as well. It also handles all the instruments and the like for our portion of the band (3 of 6). Love it!

sounds quite a bit like my iPod! a little of this, a little of that, makes for a great music mix! (ps, I'm 30, so teetering on the edge there!)
