Post Clunkers - Prices Paid for Fit Sport MT / AT

Hi,

Looking to buy soon.
All the quotes I've been getting are ridiculously higher than Pre-Clunkers time period. Anyone able to nab any good deals?

Would it be better just to wait for '10 models?

go to edmunds.com and check out the true market value in your area. that should be the guide you use. when i got my 09, TMV in my area was only about a hundred dollars off of sticker price.

Already done. The TMV price from Edmunds is usually off.
That said the price of the car has definately gone up post-clunkers era.

If anything, if anyone has any actual sales numbers that would be great.

2010 Fits will be the same as the 2009, and more expensive. I suggest that you go to Anderson Honda in Palo Alto. For the past few decades and entire operation, they have never sold cars higher than the MSRP. Anderson is where I bought my 09 Fit, and it was worth going to them.

Prices ebb and flow. I've posted many links on the post-CARS era.

2009 are in short supply. 2010 prices went up. 2009 used prices exceed new prices (just as they did when I wanted to buy a 2008 used and ended up buying a 2009 new back in December 2008).

Used prices are especially high after the CARS program.

How soon are you looking to buy? Will you have secured financing or be paying cash? How much can you afford?

What are you looking for, other than Sport Auto? Color preferences? What price?

Know that msrp will be predominant due to supply/demand, until at least the end of this month.

More than willing to help out in locating a car for you. Have you used the
"Find a Dealer" section on Honda.com?:
Locate a Dealer - the Official Honda Web Site

And, no, I don't work for any dealer or Honda. I'm disabled. I just try to find ways to use my time productively that could potentially help someone find the car they want. It makes me feel like a member of the workforce.

The shortage of cars is pushing up the price. "Supply and demand"... I would wait until the supply recovers. I bought my '09 sport manual from anderson honda during the clunkers time. The internet price was $15,788. They seemed to be such a high volume dealer that they maybe selling at good price now. It wouldn't hurt to send an internet price request.

Maybe when the '10 comes out, the dealers are willing to go a little lower on the '09s...

When my wife and I did our clunker deal we went through her cousin who works at Roush Honda. We were able to get our base Fit for 14,700 which I think he said was $300 over invoice.

I went and talked to him about a week later while I was there getting some rims mounted and he told me they had 70 Fits on the lot before CFC (mine was on the lot since May) and they were all gone. They show about 8 on their site now. He said they were doing the remaining clunker deals at sticker since they were selling so fast.

You might want to let things cool down a bit before trying to get a deal. Winter is a slow time for car sales. Might be able to get a better price then. Unless you can find an '09 soon.

Wow! Good deal Chad! I could have used your wife's cousin...LOL!

A little bit off MSRP and I was ok. I figure there's a range for both customers and dealers where both sides think they've been screwed and both sides think they could have done "a little bit better" but nobody forced the issue to blow the sale.

I liked my salesman and hope that he can continue to pay for the maintenance for his Mercedes ...while I wonder why he isn't driving a Fit!

Just bought mine in mid-August during C4C (thanks again, Barack !!!).........car was $16,910 with $670 destination charge............total $17580
No dealer add-on accessories.

Went to Honda.com and built my own 2010 Fit. Car was $17,260 with $710 destination charge (no accessories)..............total $17,970.

So you may see an MSRP difference of around $400 between the '09 & '10.

Since buying mine, I have started taking notice to used Fit's in dealer ads.........they seem to be priced high enough that I would just go ahead and buy a new one.

My final price was $16,700 - '09 Sport A/T no nav. After taxes, stupid dealer fees, blah, blah (no extras, no freakin ext warranty), and C4C voucher, I cut a check for $13,670. Not the best deal in town, but slightly below average price for the Atlanta area.

Well I actually got a quote $35 cheaper from another dealer in town. But what the heck $35 for good family relations is a bargain. This was right at the start of C4C when they were all still loaded with inventory. Base manual Fit. Sticker was $15,520 I believe.

I got a 09 sport MT Sport, no Nav for $16,200 the weekend after Cash for Clunkers. The sticker was $16,900 and I was plesantly surprised when the saleman offered $16,200 with out hardly asking. Great deal. Walked out after NJ 7% tax and everything else with a $17,540 bill. Still on my first tank.

go to truecar.com they claim they have a actual sales data feed of ~24% of car sales (dunno how, maybe dmv or bank industry contacts?)

They have a historical chart, it shows that ave. prices did jump up about $400 corresponding to C4C.

Now after C4C, hard to say if it will fall back down or stay up there.

I am in MA and I have very recently placed an order for a new '09 Fit Sport MT (non Nav) with a quoted price of $16364 that includes destination (so I guess it is actually more like $15654 for the car alone).

It seemed like a decent deal and the dealer was very straight forward with the price quote. Other nearby dealers made me jump though hoops to even get a price quote well above this.

I can't wait for it to come in.

First post chime in. Paid 17,820 OTD for a 2009 MT fit sport non-navi floor mats and back bumper protector on 09/19. Possibly the last 09 MT fit sport in the chicagoland area as cars.com is showing nothing.
