Why do people mess with me!?

I am a 43 year old man who has only bought two brand new vehicles in my life. The first time I bought a new vehicle, it was back in 1991 and it was a 4x4 Toyota pickup, and within a month somebody decided to key the "F" out it. From tail light to to head light.......it was keyed. Pissed me off to no end.

I now recently purchased my 2009 Fit and somebody decided to smash my passenger front window......well before I even made my first car payment!

So I had the glass company come to my house and replace the glass last Tuesday. I arrived home from work and saw the new glass in place and I was pleased. I got into the car and lowered the window. No problems! That is until I went to raise the window. The idiot left broken shards of glass inside the door and I heard this nasty scraping sound and it scratched my new window but thankfully was able to wipe it off. I could hear the broken glass bouncing around when I closed the door and decided I would take off the door panel myself and remove the broken glass.

That was UNTIL............

I noticed that either the broken glass or the idiot technician using a screw driver dented my door in 4 places in it's all in a perfect line. It looks like somebody took a BB gun and shot the door from the inside!

I just called the glass company and they said they would pay to have it fixed and to just go to the dealership and so forth. All is well, and they are stepping up to the plate but that's not the point!

My point is if "kids now a days" would just be taught how to respect another person's property, none of this frustration would have ever occurred!

Here's a really poor pic of the damage but I think you'll be able to see it. I had washed the car but not dried it so I have a lot of water spots but I believe you'll be able to see where the metal dents protrude OUTWARDS!!!

And yes, that is a reflection of my work van you are seeing in my close up shot of the door on my Fit.

Sorry hear about all of this.

See if your dealer's PDR tech can knock it down for you. If the high points are not a sharp crease it can be knocked down.

PDR works both ways. Dings and high points. I've fixed several cars' quarter panels where crap in the trunk rolled and dented the panel outwards. Hahahaha

My fenders tend to be a magnet for door dings - and the large windshield has no problems catching rocks. I feel your pain.

Sorry you've had so much going on with your new car. Sometimes that is how it goes and you just want to say OK enough already. I hope you are
able to get it all fixed and the problems taken care of. Hang in there and things will get better for you and your car.

Total bummer. I had the driver's side window busted out on my Civic once and the glass company did the same thing. When I complained about it they said "Well we did spary an adhesive in there, if you want the glass cleaned out then you'll have to do it yourself." Lousy business.

About the dent reapair, one of the earlier posters had a great recommendation. Paintless dent repair can give some amazing results if done correctly. Definately the way to go if possible. I had a company called Recon: Mobile Dent and Paint work on my Fit. They did an incredible job and came right to my house to do it. I felt bad for the tech because I was drinking a beer and he was working on my car when it was 110 degrees out!

I guess there is some light at them end of the tunnel.

After receiving an email from the glass company and asking me to fill out their survey (before noticing the dents), they gave me a call wanting to make it all good. I then told them about the dents in the door and they apologized and simply told me to take it to the dealership and have them fax over the invoice as they will pay for everything.

I will be heading down this weekend and to be honest with you......I'm shooting for a new door. And I am assuming the dealership will do it as it will be easier and more lucrative for them. It may not be right but that's what I want....

Sorry to hear of this bad luck.

Judging from the pic, I doubt dent removal will do it because the dings have sharp creases. I hope they give you a new door. It's a shame you have to go through this.

Sometimes crap happens. The world is filled with stupid people. Half of them are below average in intelligence. Just do the best you can and try to get used to the idiots.

Well, I went to the body shop this morning and it's amazing what the pros can spot a mile away! Besides the door being totally messed up, and parts of my door panel plastics being gouged with a screwdriver (just like Pancho), they also put in the wrong piece of glass. The glass was so wedged in to make it fit that the glass is warped and "rippled". Not to mention the improperly installed window is already scratched due to the poor workmanship.

The auto body shop said they will call the glass company and hopefully get back to me later this afternoon....

(keeping my fingers crossed)

EXACTO!

man I´m surprised about you are experienced, I mean you´re in the US! It´s sad that these issues happpen with "pro" people, the worse thing is that, let me tell you never, never is going to be the same, believe me, always there is something that you´ll "discover" two or three days after using your car, and you won´t be comfortable with, good luck!!

Well, my little Fit is at the body shop and the glass company came over to reinspect the damage and they are taking liabiltiy for everything (per the tech). So if all goes well, the glass company will give the go-ahead today to have the repairs done and I will have my pride and joy back some time next week.
