I got rid of my 2009 Fit Sport....**PICS**
Well, I think it's moreso because people are pissed that he even compares a mazdaspeed3 to a Fit. Like a few people pointed out already, they're not even in the same category of car, yet he posts it like they are, which I also think is somewhat stupid and ludicrous. It's like he doesn't even think about what he says. "It feels more luxurious"....really? I would hope that spending 5k+ more than a Fit Sport would result in that, otherwise you're even more of an idiot.
Relationship with Ford is an interesting question. Our first Mazda was a 1989 MPV -- one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned, delivering 120,000 trouble-free miles until my daughter ran it into a tree. Second as an MX6 (built in Detroit), which we picked up used. By 80,000 miles it was shot. We also had a Nissan Quest (essentially the same car as Mercury Villager), which was OK, but required a lot of maintenance over the last 60,000 miles of its life. One plus was that you could get keys cut on Ford blanks at a local hardware store...
But, I've had mixed results with Hondas as well. 1970 N600, very reliable and easy to work on. 1976 Civic blew a head gasket, and was giving major transmission problems before it died. 1980 Accord, pretty good (unbelievably good AC system), but I didn't keep it long enough to put major miles on it. A 1982 Accord ate clutches (probably my wife's driving habits), needed a starter motor replaced, and stranded us on the PA turnpike during a Christmas Eve blizzard (burned out ignition switch. The Fit is my first Honda of the 21st century, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The point is the 2 cars are not in the same field - its just like saying you traded the fit for a F150 truck. seriously, sounds like your fit purchase was not wise.
I was looking at the base model 3 hatchback and liked the way it drove and great shifter, but long term owning wise, the fit was more what I needed, a fun easy on the gas, and insurance, city runabout.
the 3, esp the 3 speed edition, has a 2.5L engine, turbo, and competes with the wrx's of the world. Don't expect the same mileage and maybe u need 'super' gas? and hope u like your insurance guys, cos they are going to like u very very much now!
great car upgrade - but there was nothing wrong with the fit - it does its job very well
U just moved into a different catagory

Same here... I had wanted a 3 hatch for quite some time and was ready to sign on the dotted line. Once I heard that the Fit was getting a major overhaul that year I decided to wait for it. I barely made it out of the parking lot and I knew the Fit was the perfect car. Less initial cost, lower long term costs (especially fuel), more versatile....overall a very forward thinking and intuitive design. Fit FTW!!
Fit is a better car than the 3. That's for sure.
The new 3's are pretty small inside too... The rear foot well is like 1/2 of a Fit. Interior quality appears to be good at first glance, but you look in detail it just reminds you that its still a japanese hyundai. A little better than a suzuki but not much.

We've owned four Mazdas--still have the '90 Miata after all these years. Great cars for the money. Our '89 626 (4 cyl) got better highway mileage than our '09 Fit. It always got 40 with the family on board. Our son has our '99 626. Still his only car.
Cheers.
Cheers.
yeah I'm with 09blackfit I don't think Krose was expecting some of these responces..... sure he's toot'n his horn a bit I wish him the best with his new 3.
Bye Krose it was good to have on board for the last 10 months.
Cya...............

I think he purposely made this thread just to see what people would say. Anything with a title that says "I got RID of..." is just asking for it.
Anyway, not a big fan of the Mazda 3.

lol... the 09 3 was kinda nice but not sure about this new one. each time i pass by one it kinda cracks me up with the huge grin. i actually tried it (read my blog) a few months ago before setting foot in a STI. wow, huge gap there.
but didnt get the STI either though.
congrats on the big
imho, the Fit 09 is a better car even if it is underpowered than the MS3's. glad there is a car for everyone.

first of all, Mazda quality is garbage compared to a Honda FIT quality, secondly, the Honda Fit is not a sports car, its an economy car with style and very utilitarian.
thirdly, you will not get near 35-40mpg that you will in the FIT with the Mazda. I luv the fit as so far Im getting over 300 miles on a tank, and its not even broken in yet !
good luck...whoever bought your fit will be happy
and hopefully you will be too.

very very nice car! definitely one of the best performing cars for the money!
of course fit owners will be slightly annoyed/offended, but i think it's a fantastic car. i was trying to decide between this and a GTI. Let me know if you want to run full synth amsoil in your car too!

Congrats on the new purchase. Of course, it is always hard to see a Fit owner leave the community! A friend of mine has a Non-Speed Mazda 3 and he really likes it.
What amazes me however, is how many people swich over to new cars after just recently purchasing the first one. I mean, you had an 09 Fit wich means that the earliest you could have bought it was maybe August 08. Now it is not even 2010 yet and you used your Fit as a trade for a new much more expensive car. You must be getting hammered on the payments. I love my car tons too, but you gotta realize that purchasing a car is one of the most un-economical decisions you can make due to the depreciation the second you pull off the lot. It's like when my friend bought a RX8 and put 12k down on it only to sell it for 15k a year and a half later. So much money loss.

Yup. Anybody buying a Fit primarily for it's acceleration is a sucker for whom there is no hope. I sure hope this guy didn't get sodomized too severely on the trade-in.
The Fit is a well-built, reliable and durable economy car, which just happens to also have excellent utility, nice handling and reasonably peppy acceleration. In other words, a decent, well-equipped all-around econo-box with some very desirable bonus features.
The Mazda 3's compromises are a little different. The geeky smiley-face grille and inverted bathtub styling notwithstanding, it still has some sporty lines, excellent handling, brisk acceleration and build quality that's almost as good as that of a Fit. All you have to give up to get a 3 is fuel economy, a few grand more in MSRP and subsequent sales tax, resale value, insurance premiums and (a LOT more) utility.
Still, this trade (a lateral move at best all things considered) begs the question: If acceleration, sportiness and handling were the primary desires, why didn't this buyer get an MX-5 instead? For just a little more coin he could have had a REAL sports car with better resale value and timeless sportscar looks.

Congradulations on your new purchase.
I like the MS3, but the ridiculous styling, the added weight and added cost do not appeal to me. That and tuning one is a bit of a problem. Don't get me wrong, I like the previous generation, but these... well they are probably not fitted to my demographic. I tend to perfer sleepers.

Honda/Mazda dispute!
I traded my 2001 Mazda Tribute on my new Fit. In terms of utility, the Fit seems at least equal to the Mazda, and the clever engineering of the 'magic seat' is a plus. But I seriously considered the Mazda5 alongside the Fit, and the Mazda3 as well. Someone said the new '3 had a Jack Nicholson as the Joker look to the front end and I concur. The thing that tipped me away from Mazda was the hundreds of dollars worth of front end parts I put into the Tribute as well as four master cylinders and one vacuum booster, along with two total failures of the brakes. Not to mention, the manual tranny was going south when I sold it. The Ford content on a Tribute is pretty high, but I couldn't risk my $$ on an iffy investment again. I feel bad for Mazda, it would have been my car company IF the car hadn't been so parts hungry!
