Just installed the body plugs that I found in the glove compartment. The holes are easy to find, just get on your hands and knees. It is raining here in California so it was a pain in the butt. Good thing those things aren't meant to keep water and dirt out because a lot of crap has been getting in through those holes for the year I had the car.

My car does have the rear strakes installed.

I use my Fit is a secondary car. So it only has 3000 miles on it even though I owned it for 13 months now.

My car was also missing the body plugs...bought October 2009 in Central NJ. It also still had the protective tape on the front "lip"... The grommets/plugs are $2.50 each through Bernardi Honda...

My 2010 Fit does not have the body plugs or the rear strakes. I called the dealer and talked to the service dept - The guy on the phone had no idea what I was talking about, but said to bring it in anyway.

The PDI procedure posted in the initial post of this thread is for the 2009. I know they are the same car, but is there any chance anyone knows where to find the PDI procedure for the 2010? I just want to be armed with the right document when I go in.

Could you please post a link to the plugs there? I tried searching, but couldn't find them.

The link to the plugs on Bernardi's site is GROMMET, TIE DOWN (20X35) - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories (searched for the part number).

The long way to find them (in case you want to search for another model, or double check the part number):
  1. Enter your car info on the parts page
  2. Go to the "Interior/Bumper" section
  3. Then "Grommet (lower)"

Those are for the body plugs this thread references? Weird name and description. It's 10 bucks in shipping! Nah. I thought if it was cheap enough I'd pick them up and pop them in and save the trip, time and effort of going to the dealer- even though THEY owe ME. I guess that's what I'll do anyway. Thanks for the info.

That is correct (that's the part I ordered myself and popped in -- I had my eye on some stuff there anyway so I didn't mind the shipping). The description sort of makes sense, since these are plugs for the tie down locations when the car is being transported, though I guess it should be called a plug or something instead of a grommet. *shrug* half the descriptions don't make sense to me anyhow .

You could just ask your dealer to mail you the plugs -- I'm sure they won't mind saving themselves the work of putting it in .

We bought two 09 Fits last February. Mine is missing the plugs, rear strakes and still has the tape on the lower spoiler. I think I'll leave the tape ;-)

Hey!!! I found one plug and the strakes in the plastic bag they came in, in the garage. I don't throw out nearly enough stuff ;-)

I thought I might have some clips in my collection of parts bought over the last couple of years. I found the rest of the hardware!!! Three more plugs and three clips. One clip still missing. Not too bad.

--
Plugs in place and also the strakes. Not a big difference? Maybe a little quieter??

This is a very interesting thread and I decided to check myself. I do have these plugs installed and it explains why I have always been surprised to hear people complaining about noise in the Fit. For an economy car I find the Fit to be exceptionally quiet, much more than some of the other economy cars I've been in: Mazda 3, Chevy Aveo, Toyota Yaris, Kio Rio etc. I really thought people were talking about a different car.

My expectations are reasonable however and I don't expect the car to be as quiet as a Lexus.

Haha, you all motivated me enough to make a quick check to see if the PDI was done. Well everything was done, however, the dealer drove a screw through the front of my bumper to install the front license plate holder (which is not needed in my state) instead of drilling through the bottom! . I am going to see if they have any colored plugs.

Somehow, I had missed this thread. Just went out in the garage and checked: no plugs!

NOTE: The body plugs are part of the noise reduction package. They play a significant role in reducing road noise.
With a Fit, every little bit helps, even if its only 1 db. Off to the dealer...

Thanks so much for this tip!

Mine are on their way to me...yay!

My dealer is also sending me a set of rear strakes--mine are installed so if anyone needs them, PM them me...you pay shipping and they are yours por gratis.

Can you post a pic of the rear strakes? I can't even imagine what they look like.

see item 17 page 3 of this document for a diagram. They're black plastic that hangs down a bit from the front of the rear fender wells. They help channel airflow around the rear tires improving economy.

Just found about this thread too, found the missing plugs in my glove compartment and... i totally screwed it up. Man I just can't believe myself. I must be the dumbest guy on earth.

I tried installing one of the plugs one way. And at first it just wouldn't fit. I tried it the other way. Nothing either. Then in sheer stupidity I pushed it inside the hole. After that I tried to take it out but it just slipped out of my fingers. My stupidity didn't end there either. I tried to get it out again but I just kept pushing it further inside. No its out of my fingers reach. I tried tweezers, screwdrivers to get it but so far

Btw I installed the other 3 body plugs just fine. It was so easy that I just can't help but ask myself.... why??? why did I have to do it??

I am so totally annoyed. Anyway should I just get a new set of plugs, install the last one and forget about the one thats stuck under the body? Or could I still get it out?

Anyone know if this counts as a warranty claim? I bought one of the contracts where you get your money you spent on the warranty back if you don't file any claims.

Update: taking a closer look, only the left front plug was missing. Curry Honda parts dept. says this part is back-ordered around the country. I cut a piece of 1/2" thick foam rubber to the proper shape, made a groove around the perimeter with a Dremel tool, and voilá -- new plug for free. I also picked up a couple of 1-1/16" rubber corks from a hardware store, and stuck them in the large round holes that are near. Can I hear a difference? In all honesty, no, but I did have 3 of 4 plugs already, so....

I think the extra round holes might be left open on purpose for drainage. Either that or they are tuned to provide exactly the resonance required to cancel other noise and by plugging them you have made interior noise levels go up.
