Lets see if that image link works

Was sideswiped by a lady driving a huge raised SUV as she tried to speed past me. There are actual HOLES ripped in the metal of the body near the door's arch. That will take some serious money to repair rips in the single piece body.

At least she admitted it was her fault to both me and my g/f. And no one was hurt either.

Can anyone recommend the best body shop in the east bay?

I got hit in the same place when my fit was 3 months old. They only had to replace the skin on mine, but the damages were still over $3,000 and it was in the shop for just under a month.

Make sure you take it to a reputable shop and like 555 said, have them weld in the new piece.

When you get it back, look for any blemishes in paint, and make sure all the pieces are aligned correctly like they were from stock.

Good luck.

i had the same kind of accident too, but someone backed into me in a parking lot. The whole rear quater panel has to be replaced...a little over 5 grand. I just took mine to Maaco, i know the manager so i know it's in good hands. The person who hit me's stupid insurance adjuster keeps trying to make them pull the panel and after two weeks he finally gave in and let the body shop do a panel replacement, but it'll take another week!!! so that equals three weeks out of service!!! But no matter, I have a ford focus loaner which is surprisingly not bad.

Man, that's flippin' scary! Looks like something took a bite out of your rear! How fast were they going when they ended you?

You guys are giving me nightmares about my soon-to-be-Fit ownership. Maybe the Fit is so small they just don't see you?

I feel real bad for the OP. I don't care if the driver admitted fault, I would have given that bitch HELL if that had happened to me. Good luck bro getting that fixed and most importantly thank God you or your girlfriend weren't hurt.
Whatever! It's not their fault you (and some of us) choose to drive tiny cars... it's your choice to do so. It's not their responsibility to choose how they live based solely on what you want, or how you think they should live. Stop, (what's the phrase?) "hating," man!

Lol! Please, stop! Got nothing to do with any of that! It has everything to do with politicians. The U.S. alone has access to more oil and associated resources than we've ever had. It's the idiot politicians who will not allow certain nations (including the U.S.) to extract those resources... using fear-driven environmental excuses as their reasoning. Problem is, the modern means by which those resources are extracted are perfectly clean and safe for our supposed "delicate" environment.

There's some slight blame to go around to oil company producers too. Then again, not very much... they can't do anything to provide cheap, plentiful energy for people around the world because of power-hungry politicians and their jealous, third-world nation enablers.

The ONLY people getting hurt for driving SUV's are the SUV drivers themselves. Hurt, because they have to pay through the nose to drive what they want to drive because of politically-motivated, politically-inflated energy prices.

As far as accidents are concerned, I've seen just as many small cars smashed into SUVs. Don't blame SUV drivers for people's personal insecurities and environmental paranoia!

Seems people always need to have someone or something to hate, for some reason!

Hmm.. I took his comment a little differently so I'll add another perspective. The 1st people to blame Obama are the ones that end up shelling out $120 for a tank of gas. These are often times the people that have the loudest voices. It has nothing to do with the politics or the reality of the gas price situation, just the reality that they have to pay WAAY more than others. Here in VT where Economical is the norm, the majority of Complaints I heard came from people driving 25mpg or less vehicles. Granted it was their choice to do so but they shouldn't be complaining because they knew the potential risk. Many people have a legitimate reason to need a truck or SUV but many do not and just choose to do so. (Most of the lower economy trucks/SUV's here in VT are farm trucks or construction/business related vehicles, most of the huge SUV's in NJ... Not so much... totally different story.) Those that choose to buy large, then choose to complain about how their large vehicle costs them so much to refuel are the people that drive me up the wall. It is sheer ignorance and these are the people who have no clue about anything outside of their own little world - gas prices everywhere else are much higher... heck, Canada is higher than the us but still lower than most other places. It's a free country so... It's their right to pick any car they want, it's their right to complain about it, It's their right to blame anyone they want (however inaccurate their target may be), and fortunately for the rest of us, it's our right to point out their ignorance... And then pass the gas station by with a as they drop $120 into their tank.

ok... back on a topic a little - We had an idiot back into our altima. Drove a Toyota Tundra. he took out both driver's side doors and the killer was.. he was backing out of an angled parking spot on the opposite side of the road, and STILL crossed the center line far enough to hit our car. Then he said he has a tough time some times with the truck... it's hard to see out of and judge distances... He shouldn't be driving that thing. cost about $4500 and Progressive dealt with it VERY well.

We need a national driver's license program with different tiers. If you want to drive a sports car or SUV/truck then you need to demonstrate different skills (and perhaps higher level of common sense or intelligence? nah that'd be asking too much) than with a normal car. States would still pay for it; it would just be standardized.

I could concur with that. She also had oversized mud tires, and the whole SUV was lifted, so the landboat's handling must have been like shit. I would happily endorse a law that says if you are driving your car on public roads, you need to have STREET tires.

Sorry you where hit - hope you get it fixed just as good as new. I was going to the doctor on Thursday and some lady in an SUV was parked on the curb of our local 4 lane. She started pulling out just as I was getting ready to pass her. Lucky for me no one was in the left lane so I pulled over quickly and cleared her boat. I then pulled back in front of her and she slowed down like oh gosh I did not see you!

High res version of the pain. I think I'm justified in demanding the replacements to be welded in.

That really sucks and that is most likely not getting pounded out and filled, well I would refuse that. Cutting and welding in of a new rear quarter is the only way to repair that.
I really see no reason for this language. Careless, maybe, unskilled, maybe. Somebody's daughter, definitely. My mother drives an Excursion because she raised ten children. She even scraped the garage driving out. Cum guzzling? Get a reality check and shut it.

Damn, Charles. Sorry to hear. My cousin is getting her CRV repaired at a body shop out in Dublin/Pleasanton. It should be done in the next few days. I can let you know how the work came out.
