airjordan023, go to the thread I started in "Gauge Interest in a Fit Product or Group Buy", it's titled " JDP Carbon Fiber Hood for GE08". There you can reply and get added to our list of hopefulls. To answer your questions, I'm fairly certain the $400 is before shipping, at least that's what I gathered when I talked to the guy at JDP on the phone. As far as installation goes, I'm sure it can't be too complicated, but it'd probably be best to check with your local body shop.

lol are you serious?? A hood has very little to do with your safety in a frontal crash. It's a thin piece of metal to cover your engine and not much more. Honda doesn't use plastic because it's not even comparable in durability when you take into consideration heat absorption, paint adhesion and the elements of nature.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying people should go out and buy a CF hood...but unless you're turning your Fit into a show car it's a total waste of money. I have removed the hood from my fit and it's extremely light I doubt I would save more than 5lbs switching to CF. The only reason I would consider switching to CF is if the hood was vented properly to reduce under hood temps.

...or in my case, since a painted hood is gonna cost upwards of $1,000, and I might be able to get JDP to make one for around $400.

very true that's how I ended up with a CF hood for my Integra...body shop wanted $900+ for a painted one so I bought a Seibon for $550
