GE8 MP3 player: Fast Forward bug!
Today as I was listening to some MP3s off a Thumb drive on my 2nd Gen Fit (Sport, non-Navi), I noticed an obvious and very annoying bug. I need you guys to confirm...!
Essentially, when you push and hold the FF (Fast Forward) button, it does not work correctly. I think it basically rewinds several seconds first, and then eventually FFs... it's a pain in the kashoosh!
So, to prove this, try the following:
1) Load an MP3 via thumbdrive -- a song that you are very familiar with. Something that you'd be able to easily identify the sequence of the song (lyrics, music progression etc).
2) Start listening for a bit (for example, 30 sec)
3) Now press and hold FF button, and observe the time on the display (let's assume it reads 00:30 secs), and fast forward by about 10 secs (let's assume it now reads 00:40 secs).
4) Release, and listen... notice the song is now actually playing farther BACK in time, instead of ahead!...
[if you press FF long enough though, you will eventually move forward in time, and would not catch the bug...]
5) Also, INTERNALLY the player does accumulate the time counter, so if you FF again, you will briefly see that it is at 40 secs, although in reality it is playing at time=20.
Can you test this out and report back? I'm pretty convinced this is a bug in the player's code.

UPDATE: Tested it today again, with a different song/album altogether, and there was no issue.
I think I know the problem: Tracks with Variable Bitrate Encoded MP3s (VBR), make the Honda radio go nuts when fast forwarding!

i do notice that the display displays the wrong time on the track. lets say im listening to a song till like 40 secs in..then i switch to radio and then i play radio for like 1 min or so, then go back, the song will be likat 17mins or something but right where i left off. weird.

As you said, this only happens with VBR mp3's. The longer the MP3, the more noticeable it will be. I had a few audiobooks encoded in VBR with VERY long "tracks" - 80 minutes or so. Later into the tracks, if I turned off the car or tried to rewind/fast forward it would be more than 10 minutes behind - a huge pain in the ass...but for normal music - where you're typically not doing all that much fast-forwarding in a typical song - not really a huge deal.
