I think it will be awesome seeing an FFH. I was talking to someone at Infineon this weekend & they are buying the newer FF chassis that can use the Honda & Ford motors interchangeably, but going with Honda for the reliability. Maybe the progression of HPD will help bring back the simplistic performance vehicles like the s2000 & NSX

Maybe a really ignorant question from an equally auto-ignorant person... but does that mean it would possibly, uhhh, fit, in the Fit? Wonder what the cost is?

I'm automatically assuming this would be much better even than a K-series swap in a stock Fit?

Sorry, I didn't even know what an FF was until this thread.

No mention of HP or torque specs. Keep in mind, the cars these go in to are SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than our Fit's.

Someone at Autoblog made a comment on the article. "FF 1600 class engines are 120 hp, with a minimum vehicle w/ driver weight of 1100 lbs." So I think we can stop all of the talk about swaps. Our engines already come close to the those numbers...unless you have a lot of stickers.

Reading the article, it sounded like they had to fit an restrictor plate to reduce horsepower to the level of the old Ford Kent engine. Unless the FF engine has been bored to 1600cc, I don't see any benefit, certainly not proportional to the cost.

Possibly of more interest is: ...FF engine conversion kit (including intake, exhaust, dry sump, lightweight alternator, restrictor plate and ECU). Individual component parts will also be available for purchase separately.

I'd be interested to see how one would convert to a dry sump... would be a tough/costly job I would imagine. The lightweight alternator and (racing tuned?) ECU would be welcomed additions.

These engines are for SCCA cars. It's a racing series where there are strict rules in terms of what parts can be used on the cars such that they are all basically equal and the drivers skill should determine how the cars place. There is no reason what so ever to swap them into your own car as they are essentially the same. It's just another option for SCCA racers over the ford engines they currently use (iirc).
