Fit at high highway speeds
Perhaps you should consider which one crash tests better. Hopefully you'll take out only you and no one else. Keep your speeding for the track.
That said, the Fit easily hits 80 mph without breaking a sweat. It seems every damn time I'm on the expressway and I look at the speedo thinking I'm being good, I'm doing 80. I don't even feel it. Because of that, you have to be mindful of how fast you're really going. Highway Patrol around here will usually let you go 70, but 80 is begging for it.

Yes the Fit can go 80-90 mph no sweat. Should you do it on public roads... NO!
I do know from experience (on a closed road of course) the Fit can get to 110 mph. Of course I am lowered and the lower and less uplift you have helps tremendously. After that it seems to hit a wall. It may go up from there but it will take a while. If I remember correctly C&D said its governed top speed is 113mph. Of course I am lowered and the lower and less uplift you have helps tremendously.
Update: here is that article from C&D.

If you are dumb enough to do that, get a Toyota. I hear they don't have brakes. That would speed up your inclusion in the natural selection process, and thereby improve the gene pool of the human race.

People need to chill out.. Jesus Christ. .
Anyway, civics hold the road a bit better at higher speeds. That being said, the Fit still holds up pretty good, but its high center of gravity and narrow track is what makes the Civic better..

Shockwave...here you can do 82 before the highway patrol will stop you.limit is 75. Safe because everyone else is doing the same speed on the 100 mile straight a ways in AZ. But 90? A danger to all others, and for what? Somebody's idea of fun?
Well here in SoCal if you drive @ 65mph when there is lite traffic you'll be getting passed by everyone, except the most heavy 18 wheelers, and then you'll start to become the road hazzard. Typical crusing speed is 75-80mph. But with rain (SoCal + rain = WTH) I'll drop it to 55mph. It all depends on the road conditions.
some folks wanna talk like they've never done anything wrong in their life. get off your high horse. the OP isn't exactly asking how stable it is @ 100+. 70-80 is almost a norm for some parts of the country.
anyway, 80 is pretty stable. what you have to be aware of when going at those speeds is crosswinds. the car's high side profile, short wheelbase and skinny tires can have you gripping the wheel for dear life. that's one of the reasons i chose to lower mine. it feels a lot more stable when speeding just a bit around here, especially on windy bridges.

I drove mine to Georgia from Miami, 1500 mile trip, on the way back I got together with a bunch that was driving 90 to 100 and it felt very stable and fast at that speed, remember, my DD is an S-2000 and it breaks 100 without even trying. Go ahead flamers, yes I drive very fast.
NPH, I agree completely. If it's a windy day, then going 80+, you will feel the cross breeze. It's not too bad, and you get used to it, but I have never felt this in my old car (Geo Prizm, which is Civiv-ish).
If you are bothered by this, maybe try the Sport as I (maybe incorrectly) believe the spoiler and larger wheels are better for this.
