Why is this board always SO slow???

I can't be the only one with this. I've been patient but good GOD man- pages can take upwards of 30 seconds to load. That's just too long. My internet speed and pc are just fine. It's this place and it's getting REALLY old now.

Administrator.....HELP!

it is very fast for me, on very very rare occasion, I get a 5 second stumble when posting. Try dumping your cookies and temp files maybe.

If you have mozilla firefox, you can load the ad blocker, that may help also.

oooh don't let the mods read that ^^^

I use Mozilla and Opera with no issues. The site loads quickly and I'm on DSL 3M/768K

Takes less than 20 seconds to load on opera 10 on my phone.

The site usually loads fine for me, but posting thread or replies sometimes have a lot of lag. I run FF with AB+

of all the different forums I've belonged to over the last couple of years, this one is by far the slowest I've encountered.

I think part of the problem is that site loads all of the pictures before it displays the text. Then I think there is something else going on that causes the pictures to load slowly? Maybe there are just more of them?

just my assumptions

Yeah, forum pages on FF almost always load very quick for me. Posting tends to take a few seconds longer, but overall the site page load times are great.

Definitely try to clear your cookies and temporary internet files, or try an alternate browser like Firefox or Chrome.

forgot to mention- I experience the same slowness whether at home or work, using two different pcs. It's not my problem.

Very slow for me, always. Slow at work, slow at home, slow on my linux/firefox machines, slow on my windows/IE machines. The header loads immediately up to the banner ad and then the rest of the content just takes a looooong time.

It was actually Tool or Raaaay that posted they use the ad block in a similar thread to this a while ago.

That is exactly what happens to me also.

My daughter uses FF and thinks I'm nuts for using IE. I loaded FF on my laptop just today but didn't get a chance to see how this place does with it. I'll see tomorrow. I think it's a combination of banners and maybe some spam guards in place here too. We did have spam issues here a while back. But it really is too slow at the moment.

I installed Opera 10.51 -- it's about the same speed as Firefox and IE. I'm on a near 4GHz quad-core godbox here ... page rendering is limited by server network response basically. I tried turning ABP (adblock pro) off and on ... not much difference. I reset my Linksys router with a new IP address, that actually helped a bit. Is each post loaded as a separate network connection???
