APEXi Power Intake Panel Filter OR K&N Air Filter?
APEXi Power Intake Panel Filter OR K&N Air Filter?
The APEXi Power Intake Panel Filter:

Apexi Power Intake Filter (503-N102)
and the K&N Air Filter:

I have been reading that the K&N might be bad for the Fit caused of the oiled element. For the very reason the Apexi is better caused it has a dry element instead, but it only last about 25,000km. Just want some opinions and experiences from anyone who has installed either.

Apexi Power Intake Filter (503-N102)
- Dry Element Filter
- Increased Ai Flow
- Improved Throttle Response
- Will not Foul Air Flow Sensors
- Last ~25,000km
and the K&N Air Filter:

i don'tlike k&n because it fouls MAF sensors supposely.. well according to this and a few other references K&n will jack up your car. just type it in google you'll see alot of truck forums complaining about it. and heres a small reference:
Do K&N Filters Foul Your Mass Air Flow Sensor? - Free Online Library
If your too lazy to read it, it basicaly just says that K&N encounter less then 200 dealership problems annually.
that aside, nothing will beats the flow of a k&n filter, its basicaly your choice, you can sacrafic a bit more flow for less filtration. If you look at dry flow filter's they typically have such a high filtration rate (like 98%~ efficacy) which is closer to paper's (99%) vs. k&N which is a large range of around (93%~)
I personally use a dry flow filter element (Afe)
i kinda wished i went your route and just changed the filter, a freaken intake is TOO loud even using a Dryflow. that stock intake's size basicaly serves as a huge silencer as well... such a good design.
I REALLY like Apexi because they make those badass exhaust system's that are almost as silent as stock but with the performance of like a really loud exhaust system, they are some real innovators. If i had to get an exhaust system I would use theirs, or atleast their muffler and custom build the piping.

At $34 the Apexi filter is just about double a generic walmart air filter would be...and I'm guessing, not too far off the cost that a dealer would charge.
I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for some extra performance...
I'd just buy 2-3 at a time for the next changes to save shipping.

welll from my personal personal experiance, i had a K&N on my boosted car, and it worked in the order of Filter, to the MAF, to supercharger, to the intercooler, to the Intake pipe/blow off valve, and then to the trottle body, engine ect ect. and my MAF was all filled with Oil when i changed it... so idk... if i beleive that link i gave you. cuz altho they said the oil will not go past the MAF... i personally did have it go pass it.
which is the reason why i stated earlyer i went with a dryflow intake this time (Afe). but yeah.. i didn't add my personal experiance earlier, i just wanted to give a side defending K&N because i do see alot of K&N hate around here and other forums i been on.

That's a good point. Do you know how often you have to clean and oil it again?

Give it a spray every oil change... word.
I have a K&N drop-in, only because I found it on sale and don't want to fool with replacing the air filter very often. It'll pay for itself eventually. Don't install any of these box filters expecting any sort of power gain; you might see minimal gains, but not enough to brag about. Like I said, I have K&N just so that I won't have to replace the filter for a very long time.
