Should I buy a new 2009?
The plan is to go see it on Monday and take it to a body shop for confirmation that it hasn't been worked on. If that checks out, I intend to purchase it.
Thanks for all of the tips! I'll be trying to learn more about Paintless Dent Removal this weekend so I'll know what to look for.

I bought it today. I looked it over VERY carefully, and I could find no evidence that it's ever had any damage or repair. After spending the weekend watching lots of youtube videos on paintless dent removal, I have a pretty good idea of what to look for. I was even able to peek at the backs of several panels, and there was no evidence of tools having been used to rub out dents.
So, I think they were telling the truth. The car sat on the lot for approximately a year. Perhaps rural Virginians don't like cars that are orange, cars that are small, and/or paying the premium for factory navigation. In any case, the final out-the-door price for a brand new 2009 Fit Sport w/NAVI and floor mats was $17985.
After spending three weeks driving various other cars (Jeep Cherokee, Chevy Impala, Ford Focus, Toyota Camry), I was SO HAPPY to be back in a Fit. I'd forgotten how noisy the Fit is, but the handling is way way better than anything else I've driven lately.
Thanks for all of the advice!

Good deal. I also bought an 09 hold over that was sitting on various dealer lots for over 1 year. I believe it came from another dealer in Colorado to California. Had about 175 miles on it when I bought it. The only issue I had with it was a dead battery, as the car had sat inside the showroom for some time. Mine was also an Orange, 5MT no NAVI.
Good price you got, also the 09 had a slightly cheaper destination charge compared to the '10.

Check out the battery forum thread here about dead batteries in the Fit.... you may just have to get a new one.
