swapping the alt & crank is cake, getting the crank bolt and alt nut loose is a biotch requiring the heavy artillery

Hey, TC, how do you like the Conti Pros? Did you notice less road noise than stock tires, or any other changes? Performance or otherwise? I was thinking about getting some of the Conti all-seasons... but I have to find wheels I really like first!

I'd like to go to lightweight 17" wheels... but they'd have to be much lighter than the Fit stocks. I don't want to chance anything making my GE feel sluggish.

Thanks

I like them a lot, they are light at 16Lbs quieter than stock, not uni directional so the can be rotated side to side decreasing wear, have higher than stock load bearing rating, don't hydro plane or break loose spinning as easily as stock on wet or loose surfaces....They seem to be a little larger in width as the same sized OEM Dunlops, appear to be going to last much longer and they do have a better ride....If you aren't driving on a track there isn't really a need for a more performance rated tire, these hold the road very well through turns and curves at speed.

Appreciate the overwhelming response, and to be honest I got the Fit for the gas mileage and cargo space to haul around all my school stuff. I was just curious if I could improve the acceleration a bit and make it more peppy. Honestly I wasn't expecting the power I got from the small vtec in it and it kinda encouraged me to see if I could mod it up a bit. I do only have about 500 miles on it so far. It seems like the overwhelming recommendations here are to let the gears and such wear in a bit with a few oil changes and also to get some lightweight tires. I might get the intake too since it won't hurt the situation. I could have sworn I saw some chargers on kraftwerks for '08s. Do those not fit in the 2010 fit?

Been a while, but Continental has never been a friend of mine. I would lean to the Cooper Touring but bump 'em to a 205/50/16 for all the reasons you've stated. That's just me 2 pennies.......K_C_

I think 205/50s are wider than is really necessary but a lot of people like wider tires.... My car is a 2007 I purchased in the summer of 2006 and fitted with a supercharger at this time last year 2 months after I installed the wheels and tires and they are really holding up very well.... In a few days I will finish some performance mods that include Kraft Werks high boost upgrade and I am hoping I can say the same for the tires after everything is completed.... I know a guy that always puts Cooper tires on his cars and told me as soon as his father would get a brand new pickup or car he would replace the OEM tires with new Cooper tires... I can't recall if I have ever had a car with them on it but my friend swears by them.

Whhyyyyyyyy, If they made a kit for the GE I would be all over that. "Kraftworks, I would make poor financial decisions so that i could afford a kit made by you, for the GE Honda Fit."

There seems to be decent amount of interest in it and it looks like its possible to make a successful kit from the other threads. How much interest do they need for them to consider the GE to be a lucrative endeavor?

We wont see any real power adders until we get a decent tunning option. Even with modern ecu's it's not practical to add more than 10%-20% power before A/F ratios become a serious concern. Then some options (such as premium fuel tune, earlier vtec engagement, and POSSIBLY increasing revlimiter?) should open up and F/I will be more readily available. Then we will learn a bit more about the limitations of this iteration of the L15.

Don't forget we are still going to have to suffer through another 5 years of "OMG I JUST BOUGHT A GE8 GUYS!!!!1111oneone" threads before the full potential of the modification market for our cars is revealed.

The GD3 had been on the market outside of North America for 5 years before I had even heard of it and affordable after market performance items for the L15A engine weren't available for another 2 years..... I would think that if there was an ECU reflash available it would have to to tailored for specific modifications and sold as a kit in the same way that the Hondata reflash is part of the KWSC high boost kit.

You guys are a real wealth of information. Glad I stumbled onto the forum. I think I'll be fine with some new rims and tires for quite a while... long as I upgrade the stereo system. Is it a bad idea to put my amp and subs into the car attached to the factory head unit? I really like the way it's setup and the usb port etc. Do I need some special gear for it?

I know you'll need a converter as there aren't hookups for the amp on the stock radio as far as I know. . Call up an audio shop, they'll tell u exactly What you need

Before I bought a new head unit, I vampire tapped the speaker wires and ran it back to my amp. Most amps now-a-days have high level inputs. Mine did not, but they sell high level to low level converters too. Also if tap your high level wires into a ground-loop isolator it will come out low level... usually.
