anyone have tips on installing the snaps for the Cargo cover on a GE? I tried it today, and the measurements given by the instructions seems to be off and after installing it, the snaps were way too loose and it easily comes out.

I had to feel through the carpet for the proper holes and then used thumb tacks to zero in on the "pin point" location. You should be able to push the carpet up against the metal frame and feel the indendations of "pre cut" holes in the metal frame. Once you find one the others are spaced accordingly. Good luck.

 

A couple of mine are fairly loose and one is very hard to snap on. You can't win. As for finding the holes, Scaldy is right. You have to feel the predrilled holes. Double-check with a push pin.

 

oh so the snaps actually go on the metal frame? so there are holes pre-drilled in the metal vertical frame?

because i was trying to screw it in via only the carpet..didnt work so well.

 

It has been a while, but I'm pretty darn sure the holes were there.

 

The holes are there. You need to screw the tabs into the pre-cut holes for support. Otherwise you may just end up pulling on the carpet until it comes apart. Once you find the pre-cut holes it will feel like a light bulb goes off.

I just installed my cargo cover on tues into my new 2010 sport. I ended up unzipping the seat back cover and reaching underneath for the first and sec hole on each side, then using the center of the whole to measure for the rest of the holes. I also used hondas pin trick. Becareful not to stretch the carpet out too much. It took me about 15 mins to install overall. adds a nice touch too!

 

i couldn't find the zipper opening...where's it at?

so you basically, just did the holes on the far right and far left and then went from there? Thanks

 

when you fold the seat down (forward) look down near the hinge on the outside of the seats, you can follow the zipper into the seat, it has like an inch or two more of material and zipper, just stick your finger into it and fish around (giggity!) then once you find it kinda roll/pull it out and then you can unzip it and get to the holes (giggity). the first hole is easy to find the ones toward the middle get harder as the fabric doesn't stretch so much.

I didn't install the snap buttons.
I just leave it as is for easy removal purposes.

 

My daughter's Yaris uses a hooked Velcro stip on the cover flat that simply sticks itself the the rear seat backs - very convenient.

 

oh snap...that didn't cross my mind. i think i will go buy some velcro.

The flap isn't entirely necessary to keep sneaking eyes away from the cargo area. When you lean the rear seats back the gap is covered. So unless you need the rear seat to be in its most upright position all the time you can forego the flap and the snaps altogether.

 

How do you fold the seats back? Or is that only on the GD?

 

Pull the lever that is used to lower the seats but push back instead of pulling forward.

 

According to my kids, the reclined position on the back seats is not a natural seating position for humans. LOL. I've never sat back there. I'm gonna have to try it. I've always had the seats in the upright position, because I have the cargo cover thingy attached all the time.
