I have a question.

From that location... wouldn't whatever air that comes out of the engine bay, basically get sucked into the cabin air?

blackndecker 08-07-2010 05:23 PM

A/C recirculation FTW! Do people really use the outside-->inside mode on the A/C???

Regardless, air mixing (hot engine gas colliding with airflow over the hood) would rapidly cool the temperature. The atmospheric air is exponentially greater than that extruded thru the hood vent, therefore, the resulting air temp just over the plastic manifold would be expected to be dramatically cooler than under the hood and only incrementally warmer than the air at, for instance, the front of the bumper.

Of course, heat exchange will be much more effective at speed than sitting still at a light...

Again, in-cabin A/C recirculate FTMFW!!

Yeah, and what about dirt and grime that has been collecting in the engine bay? Now, you're clogging up the cabin filter even faster... and even the filter doesn't catch everything. And what of fumes from minor leaks or even the dirt/grime being "burnt" on the hot engine?

As for A/C on fresh air mode... I do. My eyes will get painfully irritated if the air gets too stale.

In any case, my point was, whatever air that comes out of that vent, will mix with any air the cabin pulls in. Something for the folks that need to know.

A/C on recirc is the classic "MAX A/C" setting from older cars. You do need to run the A/C on max more often on the Fit and most small Hondas, basically because the A/C system is W E A K. But running it without A/C, or running the heat, the fresh-air mode is critical to prevent fogging.

Luckily, I live in a climate where I very rarely use the A/C anyway (it was 57 degrees at noon today)

I hate you so much right now. It's a cool 83 degrees at 3AM in the morning here.

Wow... really.

Assuming you bought your Fit in June... give yourself a few weeks of road construction plus a bit of rain... then see just how "clean" your engine bay is.

If you refuse to see my point of view, for whatever its worth... then I guess there's no need for me to continue here.

I'm out of this thread. ta ta.

roddy 08-08-2010 05:05 AM

i bought my car in june

Sounds like you should wash your engine bay a little more often. Minor leaks of what? LOL.
There are cars produced from the factory with vented hoods, as well as all the aftermarket hoods, and I've never heard of anyone complain of "dirty cabin air." This is all speculation and I challenge you to provide even anecdotal evidence to support this....:popc:

This sounds like a personal problem.

These are good thoughts, but sounds like 99% of your concerns relate to a dirty engine. My engine is immaculate....b/c I wash it.

bmxman 08-08-2010 07:10 PM

lol...just came up one 1 year of ownership of my Fit and the engine looks the same as the day I bought it.. I have never washed it! So I'm not sure what going on with his car??

j1nNju1c3 08-09-2010 02:32 AM

We have 10 people confirmed for this! We just need 5 more if possible!

ThEvil0nE 08-09-2010 10:33 AM

Hood will be in production as we have met the 10 minimum confirmed buyers.
The more buyers... The more we can baragain the price :)

blassty 08-09-2010 10:47 AM

ha ha this thread is like a bait and switch, or a rick roll, but instead of being pissed off, or annoyed, i'm quite pleased. i'm really glad to see you guys met the minimum. this mod is too rich for me, otherwise I'll be all over this. gotta focus on clazzio or wheels next. hats to off to you elite 10, for paving the way for my car's future hood. ;)

blackndecker 08-09-2010 11:44 AM

This hood is so 'lite it gets two threads biyatches!!! LOL. I plan to call JDP a little later this afternoon...get everything all confirmed.
