I did my first oil change with 15% on MM and the mileage was 8,400. Now when its said that none of today's oil can go 10k, well, I know its not the be all, end all, but when I had my oil changed @8,400 miles, the oil wasn't dark at all. I'm running 0w30 Mobil 1 w/Mobil 1 syn oil filter and I can tell you this, I'm leaving it for "atleast" 10k

New Fit owner here (moderate hypermiler) w/ a few questions...

Has anyone sent their extended drain oil off the Blackstone to have it analyzed? If so, what did they say? (If there are threads on this, pls. link them here)

Also, for you guys w/ extended drain intervals, what mileage do u have on your ODO overall? (i.e. extended drains are great, but are you getting 150k out of your motor?)

I'm used to 3-3500 mile drain intervals with Shell Rotella Syn (non-energy conserving, diesel oil from my motorcycle days) in my EVO (Bryce
's EVO
)and I have to admit, it's cool with the extended drains, but makes me cringe a bit too. haha

There are a number of threads on this. Use the search link in the top center. I'm guessing that just typing in blackstone will get you what you are looking for as I know there ar threads with people having sent their oil off.

In short, the 3K oil interval is held over from the days when you actually NEEDED to change at that interval. Engines have gotten better, oil Tech has gotten better, Gas has gotten better. All which contribute to the interval needed. the only thing that hasn't changed is the general thought that you have to change it every 3k.

Very few people will have 150K on their Fit as the current gen is only in it's 2nd year and the car is only on it's 4th year total in the US. Data at that mileage will be slim and those that do have odo's that high will be strictly highway drivers.

I'm at 20% and almost 19K on the Odometer. Last change was around 8500 or 9K miles and that was at 20% with a 600-1000 mile trip in the near future. (Opted not to let it go to 15%) My economy over the life of the vehicle is over 38mpg with almost all country roads 25mph-50mph roads.

I posted the analysis of my first oil change in fufit905's thread. Here's a post with the analyses side by side: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...tml#post903440

fufit905 also posted the analysis from his second oil change: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...es-09-fit.html

Here's a page of oil analyses from Roger's fit: Oil Analysis

There may be others too if you search.

Is 1st oil change free from all dealers?

I am at 8k miles with 30%--had my tires rotated at 7 k from Big O because I had a free rotation & balance coupon.

No on the Free from all dealers. That is a dealer specific incentive. My incentive is Free lifetime Inspections, 10% off Service/accessories, $200 off the final price of a new vehicle (repeat buyer), and a few other things.

My dealer offered the first oil change free w/ no other 'incentives' attached. Pretty sure most do. Did pay $20 for tire rotation.

8Kmiles @ 30% is good. Oil level is still at the mark? Your Fit likes the way you drive it. I went in w/ 9K and 20% and the service tech was surprised to see the numbers but didn't hesitate to change the oil.

You have a car that had the tires rotated before the first oil change - how crazy is that! Gotta love the technology, eh.
