how can i take advantage for 25,000 maintenance service?

I bought a 2010 Honda Fit Auto Sport with the 25,000 maintenance warranty. Yes, the finance manager made me to purchase it in order to get me the 0.9 APR. Yeah, I should have walked out the door but I was under pressure and too tired... at the end, I just want to end the deal and take the car home.

As being said, the 25,000 maintenance warranty provides free warranty like oil change and all regular maintenance services. I paid about $700 for this service. Yes, that is a rip off since a few oil changes would not cost $700 for our Fit. It is not a sport car or luxury car. But now is too late since i paid for the car. Now, i have read so many posts people saying their first oil change doesn't begin until 9,000 miles. In order for me to take full advantage for the 25,000 maintenance since i paid so much money. I would need to do a minimum of oil changes 5 times in order not to lose any money.

If most people doesn't change their oil after 8000 or 9000 when the minder light comes out, does that mean Honda is really rip me off and take my money away easily?

Please help me guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is not a Honda warranty, that is one sold by the dealer. You were not "required" to get that with your interest rate.. it's just that some dealers(well, every single one I've ever dealt with) will try to rape you any chance they get. The dealer is making that money...

I have nothing to add other than for the first service at least I'd let it go till the minder tells you to change the oil as the oil has a break in compound in it. After that.. you won't hurt it by changing it lots but you won't gain a darn thing either

Do you have the number? I will look it up online, but I don't think they would do a damn thing. They said that I was not able to qualify the 0.9 APR and gave me 3.9APR. After all the BS, they said that I must purchase the factory alarm + $25,000 maintenance service in order to get 0.9. That cost me around $700 - 800 extra. I was under pressure and so tired, so I ended up just buy the car. Yes, i am very regret because I felt the dealer rape off my money and being dishonest.

That really sucks, I am sorry to hear that. since they took advantage of you and took your money, why don't you just out the dealer so we can all just boycott it and hit em where it hurts. You can also go to angies list .com and write a review that millions will read, and do the same for google and yahoo, they let you write reviews, just search the dealer by name. the other thing you can do is when they send you the customer satisfaction survey flame them on that. raise enough of a stink you may be able to get that money back. I am also wondering how by you buying those add ons you were able then to get the .9%. the dealership has no say in what quilifies or what doesn't its up to the bank so unless they have their own credit service or bank this sounds fishy. Honda does read those reviews, I hope it all works out for you! Best of luck.

Thanks so much of your sincere words. I just filed a complain to Honda Headquarter this morning and they will submit the complain to the dealership, but it is up to them if they willing to work out something with me. I doubt it but that is the only thing I can do. I can't admit how stupid I was not walk out from the financial office and buy the car somewhere else. Anyways, it is too late now.

You might want to check the state laws about the service plan/extended warranty. Those are often cancelable for a few days after the purchase. The car itself isn't, usually, but those service contracts normally are.

eta: And the loan in no way requires the service plan; or at least no one else has reported requiring some sort of warranty to get the loan. So asking the loan to be dropped won't affect your loan at all.

Don't beat your self up - you were pressured. malaux has made a valid point - go back and tell them you want it canceled. They say no, then they get a report from HondaUSA and call you to cancel it.

Thanks guys!

Actually the other part that cost me so much is the factory alarms ($600) + 25,000 maintenance ($199). Since the alarm has installed on my car when i picked up the car in the first day, i am not sure they are willing to take it back and give me a refund. I really hate the alarm (piece of crap) and they said it costs about $600 - $700 with installation. Whatever man! For the $199, they are willing to refund back to my loan. This $199 contains 5 times of oil change and 1 time air filter replacement and 1 time of tire rotation. I think is okay to keep it. Anyways, I will find out by tomorrow if they are willing to work out with me for the issue. I have filled a claim to honda headquarter and they will also send them a complain to dealership.

200bux?!!! thats not bad... man... you didn't exactly waste any money...

oil changes are like 30bux these days... you multiply that by your service agreement (you said 5 oil changes) so thats like 150bux already.. not too far from 200bux

but the problem is its a 25,000 MILE maintenance? does that mean that you lose all of those services if you go over 25k miles? If so then i would change at 10k miles (this is just me doing it.. other people like to change it earlyer, or even later)

try and get your money back if you can.. and if you can't.... well... i would say just get the oil changed at 9-10k miles, and then 1 at 18-20 (whenever light comes on) and then get it changed at 22k, 23k, and 24k miles just to waste their money, and also get your air filter changed at that last visit.

and there you go... you got your 200bux worth.. it just sucks to have your time wasted sitting in the shop for that work to get done.

I had an extended warranty when I bought my Fit (before the .9% sale). I paid $1100 for it and by getting it, they dropped my apr from 12% to just under 10% (raised my monthly by $5). I know 12% and 10% are high, but consider I had no credit and no co-signer). But then cancelled the warranty about a month later (kept feeling like there's no way I could make use of it).

They refunded my $1100 directly into my loan... and because I've been over paying each payment... I might finish off a 5 yr loan in less than 1 year and save myself plenty of interest too.

My point is... they didn't change my loan.

The $600 alarm is what the dealership rip me off. It is a piece of crap alarm. There is no reason why I have to pay this extra money in order to get 0.9. They are big liar! As you know, they try to make money from customer so that they can make sales commission. I will try to fight with them.

I'm in Canada and I just bought a 2010 DX a month ago, and I didn't have to contact Honda, they contacted me for a review of the dealer. The dealer told me that this would happen and stressed that it greatly affected the employees bonuses and such, which is why when I told the finance guy that we didn't need financing or any additional paid option, he wiped the pained look off his face and went back to smiling.

I try not to use dealer financing. Too much BS. Go to the bank and get a loan or a line of credit. It's liberating to be able to tell the dealer where to shove their financing and extended warranties.

I got sold the extended warranty. A few weeks later realized I got screwed. I got a full refund after contacting Honda Canada..

I still have the effin paint sealer crap wty though and found out this Spring it covers diddly when TW started showing ton of rail rust. I just clay barred it.

I just wrote a cheque for mine. Transferred some from savings to checking account . Not having payments I have been able to pee away another $3000 on mod and winter wheels/tires. The joy of retirement

I had the same crazy type deal thrown at me. I found out that it was illegal to have a customer be required to take out an extended service plan in order to receive a lower interest rate.... I went online and started spouting off how I had been played including the shuffling of nonsense paper work to be signed while they were turning off the lights at the dealership after having me wait for hours.... I got a call from the general manager of the dealership and told him I was going to keep it up until everyone would be aware of there game plan.... I even received a call from the finance manager that would never return my calls before I had come in to pick up the car, and called her on the interest rate suddenly dropped when I said Okay to the extended warranty..... A few days later I received a letter from the bank that held the note saying they had dropped the interest rate 2.5%.

No, that is an upgrade factory alarm, but it is pretty much the same with the stock. The only difference is they install a LED indicator under the steering wheel and they said if people hit the car hard, the alarm will go off. That's all! Thus, the $700 alarm that i paid is piece of crap. I will request them to get my money back if i can fight with the dealership. A complain has been filed.
