I've read about the lenses for the gauge cluster being very easy to scratch.
So I tried a cleaning technique that I used on my laptop years ago.

I bought a blush brush (Maybelline I think, thick bundle of soft hair) the soft hairs work well at dusting off the abrasive dust or lint. I blow out the hairs often if the lenses have a large amount of debris.

I originally got this idea from CSI shows and the finger print brushes.

 

I use canned pressurized air and Oakley's lens cleaning solution... I have lifetime supply of Oakley's lens solution
