relining headliner and doors
relining headliner and doors
so i'm comtemplating changing my roofliner, and my doors.....thing is, i have no sweet clue how to do it, or where to start.
do you take the liner down, and wrap it then put it back up or can you put it on without taking the liner down?
the doors: my 93 civic was a snap to take apart. there was nothing electronic in the doors except the audio.
these are all noob questions i know, but i don't know how to begin. i did a search on headliner, and nothing came up for cars being done. if there is something else to search, please, let me know. i'd love to see some cars done to get some ideas, and some help. everyone on here has helped me out so far.
thanks guys/gals

I was also wondering the same thing about the headliner, as the search turned up nothing in the likes of a DIY. I know there is a DIY on the doors somewhere around here. I am pretty sure that you will have to remove the head liner from the car and re-wrap it outside the car.
I'm not surprised this hasn't been attempted on the GE, yet. It's not exactly a modder's delight.
The basics of what you need to do, though, are remove the headliner from the car, which should require the removal of the interior A, B, C, and (I think) D pillar covers. Once it's out strip the existing headliner fabric off the board. Some people skip that step and just cover the existing one. Get a quality fabric adhesive spray and lightly spray the board. Lay the new fabric down and smooth it out. Then cut the excess while leaving a little to wrap around the back side of the board. Glue it down and let it dry. Reinstall and try to not stare at your work while driving.

A small tree branch dinged the roof of my Fit- with the headliner removed, I could work out the crease fron the inside with the proper dolly and hammer tools. It would be nice to insulate/strengthen the sheet metal from the inside while the headliner is out. I don't have a shop manual- is the procedure listed there?
There's some info in this thread

I know somebody on here did their interior in white that had a somewhat "dizzying" design to it. If you can find his thread, there may be info in it
