hi guys im new here. i currently have a chevy colorado but this coming spring im planing on buying a fit. just doing homework here and making sure i know whats what with all the honda stuff. im planning on getting a 2010 or 2011. what i really need to know now is whats the difference between the ge and the other motor. not a big motor head so any advise here would be greatful, and second i want to get a 16 inch rim, whats the biggest offset i can get without rubbing or rolling fenders?thanks in advance

There's only one engine (motor is electric) and its 1500 cc, about 91 cubic inches unless you're in Europe or Asia. They have smaller displacements but not here.
you get 16" wheels on 2009 and 2010 Sport models but not base, probably 2011 when its announced, perhaps already.
The least offset you can use is 45 mm, standard is 52 or 53 mm, if you want to avoidrubbing issues. Its not the biggest offset but the least that matters as the offset decreases the wheel pushes farther out.
Read the brochures carefully to get what you want.
PS by the tiome you get to buy your Fit the prices may be escalating as gas prices rise steadily. You'll need to drive the S10 less.
I was going to make some snippy comment about the OP's various references, "ge and the other motor" and "biggest offset i can get without rubbing or rolling fenders."
But instead, I'll just point out some things.
The "GE" is not a motor specification. It's a PLATFORM spec from Honda. The motor that fits is the L15A series, specifically the L15A7. Europe and Japan have other motor options, but not the US. A 2009/2010/2011 model years will be a GE spec, while older, pre-2009 will be GD spec. Therefore, I won't go into the differences in the motors or platform/chassis. Google: l15a7 or i-VTEC or "gd vs ge" if you want more info.
The Fit currently comes with two sizes of wheels... 15" and 16". If you get the Base trim, you'll get the 15" steel wheels w/cover. If you get the Sport trim or Sport w/Navi, you'll get the 16" alloy wheels. I'm not certain if it'll change for the 2011 model year (doubt it though).
It currently has a high +53 mm offset. Your question about offset is actually the opposite of what you expect. A higher offset pulls the wheel deeper into the body, while a LOWER offset will push the wheels out. A higher offset has (potential) clearance issues with suspension parts and maybe the inside wheel well cover. Its with a lower offset that you need to worry about rolling fenders.
