Is 18% Tint too dark?

I'm getting my windows tinted on Friday. I can't decide between 18% and 25% tint. What do you think would look the best on SSM Fit? Is 18% too dark?

i got 32 and i defiantly wish i would of went darker i think the next choice down for me at that shop was 22%. my last car had around 22 and i seemed to be happy with that its a little dark at night but i like it that way. i think 18 would be to dark for me if your talkin all the way around but its really personal choice. plus 32% keeps me from being pulled over but i dont know how OK is.

Some police strongly enforce overly tinted windows. Check with your police department or city hall to find out if there is an ordinance that specifies the level of tint that is allowed. Your car will be a lot more enjoyable if everytime you drive it you don't have to try and dodge the law.

My wife's car has 20% and it is perfect. Check your local laws if you are concerned about tickets and such, otherwise the darker the better!

Yes, by two points one by your laws that say windows cant be darker then 25% and two the darker the tint the harder it is to see at night. Also a FYI most cars come with some kind of tint so even if you do 25% there is still a chance if a office checks them it may show its darker. Its up to you to make the call if its worth it to take the risk for a ticket, my windows are illegally tinted 35% (MN law 50%) and I have never had any problems

depends where you are. i live in miami, fl and the law is enforced pretty well here but the police usually only bother you about it if you are young or at one of the local illegal car hangouts or something. i bought 5% and have had it on all my cars for the last 5 years and been pulled over all but once for them

I think 20-22% looks the best on SSM. But its either 18 or 25 and I can't decide which way to go. Up or down haha. The brand is suntek carbon series. Does anyone have any experience with that tint?

I don't know my brand just know mine is charcoal based so it won't fade unlike the dye based tint I'd say 25 if it were mine or just get 18 in the rear

I got 35 driver/front passenger and 15 the rest. I was concerned that it might be too dark, especially at night, but I've got a Crystal Black Pearl and in the summer a black car is a heat magnet. So far I have not had a problem and my eyesight is not the best. From the outside it doesn't look that dark, but I would suppose that depends on the brand of tint.I was shocked at how cool the interior was on hot summer days. Sure isn't like the tints of days gone by. Formula One tint, BTW.

Found pictures for comparison... What do you guys think would look best?

From those pictures the visibility appears to be pretty close. The only difference it looks like is the color of the tint. The 18 being a slightly darker color tint.

I went with 18% all the way around. It looks really good, I'm glad I went with it. I'll take some pics tomorrow when it's sunny. Thanks to everyone for your opinions.

I have 18% all around on my 2009 Sport. Aesthetically, I think it looks great. Functionally, I only have a problem with it if it is very dark outside with no ambient light sources around. On rare occasion I will put my driver's window down to make a safer left turn, but if you live in an urban environment this isn't really a problem because there's nearly always enough light to see safely around you at night.

I got pulled over once for my tint, but the cop saw I had a clean record and sent me on my way. I think he really didn't care about the tint and probably just used it as an excuse to pull me over hoping for something more since I was in a bad neighborhood at the time.

I hate not seeing well at night so I stick with the 35% range. And in my opinion lighter tint looks "classier".

I think 5% or near limo tint is too dark. I had 5% all around my windows on my 04 Pilot and I could not see at all at night. If I was backing up at night, I could not see a thing. And it makes it worse when it was overcast or raining and people didn't have their lights on. I forgot what I put on my fit though

legal tint here is 50% on the front seat windows, back seat windows 35%, back window can be whatever you want...most people get 5% on the hatch glass.
you can also tint the first 5% inches of your windshield, on the fit its great because the windshield is so big. legal limit is 20% for the first 5 inches

Be glad y'all can even tint the front windows... CA law is 70% max in front, and it's the same whether you're right next to Oregon or Mexico. Then again CA cops usually have better things to worry about than your windows being too dark =P
