Rims for '11 Base Fit

Hey Guys,

Just got back on here after getting the recall notice on my '09 Base 5-speed.

I got on the Honda website looking for info and discovered the new Alabaster Silver Metalic. Also doscovered the base model now comes with cruise, usb hookup, keyless entry and VSA for about the same price as my '09.

So long story short I'm getting a new Fit monday and they can do the recall on my '09 after they own it.

My question is. What wheels should I put on it? I'm down to 2 choices. Both are 15X6 et45 which worked out well on my '09 Fit.

My first pick was the 99-00 Si wheels. I've always liked these.

Then I saw these and I think I like these a little better on the Fit. Plus they seem to be a bit less common.

5 spoke look pretty good but why don't you get something a little lighter?

I like the Si Wheels better on this vehicle. The sidewall on the tire is way too thick to make anything less than 6 or 7 thin-spoke wheels look awkward at 15". 17" would be ok and i'm not sure about 16". The Fatter spokes of the Si wheels complement the vehicle look better. I don't mind how the integra LS Mesh wheels look on my fit because they have a ton of spokes so it fills up the wheel - plus they are used wheels for my snow tires that I got for $50.

what are your current wheels? (look like 6-spoke which looks better from your sigpic angle)

Thanks for the reply Eric67.

I'd like to go as light as possible but I prefer more of a factory look for the Fit. The Si wheels are supposedly around 16lbs each which would be about the same weight as the wheels on my current Fit. The stock steelies are 17 lbs so the Si rims would be lighter.

Not sure what the weight is on the 5 spokes but they look fairly light. Wish I could get a weight on them.

It's hard to get 15s to look decent with the tall tires but I like the sidewall for ride quality and 195/60/15 tires are dirt cheap.

I've thought about going to a 16. I really like these but they are 19 lbs each.

To me the slender spokes make the wheels look larger. The wheels on the current Fit are civic accesory rims too. Should just keep them but I'm too much of a wheelaholic. Plus I kind of want a machined wheel with the silver.

Here are the wheels on Fit #1

Thanks for the input!

If you are dead set on Honda wheels (I'm not quite sure I understand why as anything non OEM to the Fit will look aftermarket) what about the HFP 16" wheels that were available? They should be about the same weight as the 15" alloys. I think I may switch back over to my fit alloys from my winter wheels and plan on weighing the entire wheel/tire combo. I'm guessing my winters weigh more due to the tires I'm running but we'll see.

Remember it's the entire package that matters for weight although larger wheels do move the majority of the weight outwards which means more work to rotate the wheel. Then again, a lb or two won't like do much to hurt economy/performance. If you really like those 16" wheels, the additional 1-2lbs overall probably is worth the performance hit.

I like the fact that they are oem and they are nice and sturdy and round. They also have steel inserts for the lugs and have a finish that's made to withstand years of use. I'm looking at these for year 'round use as I only drive about 2 miles to work and don't want to fool with the tpms. (BTW do you run sensors in your winter rims?).

They're also not that expensive. The Si wheels are $138 and the 5 spokes are $150 from Majestic Honda.

I kind of want to stick with 15s for the better ride and the cost/weight ratio.

Most of the HFP wheels I've looked at are 20ish lbs. The Fit accessory 16 inch rims are around $200 each but they do look snazzy on the silver.

Exactly! It's all about rotational inertia. The larger wheels kind of nickle & dime you. Little bit more weight, little more money, little bit heavier more expensive tires.

I basically just want something that's unique, not too heavy, not too expensive and fairly stock looking.

I don't run sensors in the Winter rims. not worth it for 3-4 months. I just ignore the tpms light. Not sure if that is an option with VSA enabled vehicles though as without TPMS, VSA is always engaged I believe. on Non-VSA vehicles, it's just an idiot-light.

Ebay has a bunch of these same wheels for a decent price. I got my winters off of Craigslist.

Profile states you are in ohio. I'd run separate summer/winter wheels. depending on location. lived in PA for 6 winters although not close to lake eerie (North central) and the stock all seasons on all of my cars were ok, but the salt and other crap used for the ice didn't do the rims any favor. I've moved to dedicated snows/winter wheels on the FIT. (The Ridgeline uses stock all seasons but it has 4wd.)

You might check out Acura Integra Wheels as well if you can find any new/like new wheels as they (obviously) fit just fine.

Adding to the little bit more... The larger wheels look a little bit, handle a little bit better. it's a matter of give/take. (FYI, someone on ebay is selling stock fit sport wheels for under $300). On the other side, I like the way the 15" look on my fit but if i had a choice... the stock sport wheels would be my choice. Of note, my 15" wheels don't get as good economy as my 16" wheels do but it is likely temp related. I don't think they'd do any better in the summer either.

I used to run winter tires until I moved to columbus. There is hardly ever snow on the roads for more than a day and I can make it to work on all seasons.

When I need the grip of summer tires I hop in the Omni. The Fit for me is my driver/haul the family truckster deal. I do have fun driving it but to me more grip is not necessarily more fun. I love the way it drives on the 15s.

And you're right the VSA defaults to always on with no tpms.

So the real question is. Which one of these small ugly wheels looks the best?..

One of my first picks for both fits was the Rota RB but I wonder about their ability to funtion as a year round wheel.

Good choices, i like the thicker spokes of the SI look. Have you considered GSR blades?

The blades are a nice wheel and I only had two complaints about them when i had them [on my GS-R]. They are spiral shaped and honda only made one wheel; all blades were exactly the same and there was no left & right wheels - one side of the car had the slope of the blades pointing towards the front, the other towards the back. They also didn't last too well as year round wheels in the winter. Not bad but they had corrosion around the center cap.

Si's are nice, but blades look better on the fit. My option is go for a rota wheel. They will hold up year round just like a oem honda wheel. Im a wheel whore and know a thing or two bout them. I like rota due to style options without big price tag. In my option why run sprint harts on a daily fit when you can run rota track r for less than half the price. Ive had alot of wheels in my time, and rota is a strong wheel. So I say no oem. Try rota.
Of course tire rack has kosei k1s for about the same price you are gonna pay for oem. Kosei is very light, and strong. Enkei rpf1 is the lightest, but way overplayed and overpriced. Check konig as well they make some light ones like feather.

Just my options though. Check show me your shoes thread on gd side there are pics of si and blades on a fit. Good luck to you.

I considered the blades and the '94 GSR 5 spokes but to buy them new is way too much. I like the way the blades look but not a big fan of the swirly spokes or chrome.

The blades weren't chrome, just a high polished face with textured sides. Nice looking wheel but it was annoying that the right side faced forward and the left side faced back. (not that you could ever see both sides at the same time - without a mirror)

I liked the integra "Fat Five" style wheels too. They are similar to the GD Fit sport wheels except with the space in the middle filled in.

Thanks man. Wow lots of wheels over there! After looking at that thread if I had a GD I'd probably run those Civic HX wheels. Am I boring or what? I do like the polished j-mags though.

Ok wasn't sure. Seems to be a lot of chromed ones. That's a great looking wheel but like you I am bothered by the slanted spokes.

Those 5 spokes I'm considering have a similar contour to the blades.

I like those too but at $360 each from an online wholesaler they're off the table.
