Traded in the Fit today...

I traded in my 2010 CBP GE8 today for a 2008 Civic Si Coupe.

It was actually a really tough decision, but what ultimately caused me to change my mind is the fact that Honda and most aftermarket companies seem to be putting all their focus into the Civic and CR-Z when it comes to performance. I think the L15 platform is definitely here to stay, and if you look at what companies like HKS and Greddy are doing to the CR-Z, it's quite obvious that there is some huge potential in this platform. (One CR-Z that sticks out is a turbo build that puts out over 300 hp.)

But alas, I feel strongly that until there is a large performance market following for the CR-Z, the new GE8's are going to be left behind.

I will still meander around the forums from time to time, and update my build thread on the Civic. Overall this is a great site and one of the best informative resources in the Honda community. Thank you to everyone that chipped in information to help me in my GE8 build. If you are from the New England area, stay in touch and we can roll together at some meets this summer.

Hum.

To trade in your Fit due to lack of aftermarket?

If that's your reason I guess it's enough for you.

The Fit is the first car I've put any effort into adding aftermarket parts (Swift & Enkei). But aftermarket parts were not the reason I bought the Fit. I bought it for it's own merits and would've been happy straight stock.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Too bad. I personally still don't like the look of the new civic Si's.....I miss the old look back in the late 90's. Those things were truly badass =D

To each his own. My GE8 will be staying within the family. I'll be giving her to my younger brother who will be his driver license later on this year/early next year. I will then be upgrading to the new Civic Si Sedan.

Congrats! One of my friends traded his Tundra for a '08 SI two days after I swapped the Fit for a tC. I love coupes (or three-doors pretending to be coupes!). The Civic SI was on my list, but the ergonomics were a bit off for me. Enjoy the new ride!

PS: Wish Honda would stop putting those hideous VTEC stickers on the side. Like every damn car on their lots don't have VTEC... hell, can you find a car on the market these days without variable valve timing? Why not put a giant "ANTILOCK BRAKES" or "FUEL INJECTED" sticker on there with it. If there's a big obnoxious sticker, someone better be handing over sponsorship checks!!!

i'm planning to drive my ge8 right into the ground lol...i think the fuel economy and spacious interior and cargo area are a win-win already.

but an si is still good if you are looking for a little more power. a civic SI sedan was actually the vehicle i was going to purchase before i chose the fit, but i went with the fit to save about $10,000 so i can use the money wisely on other things and still get some mods without spending a crazy amount.

Good stuff man! I once fell into the temptation of getting the Si sedan!! Originally that's what I wanted ! But couldn't afford it ! Then had another chance but I was going to loose alot so stood with the fit!! I love everything about the fit except it not having the k20!! But sooner or later that will change !!! Plus me with a fam, the fit is doing me real good !!! But congrats and enjoy the Si!

I would never trade my Fit for a Civic!

A CR-Z I would consider... but not a civic. I could care less about horsepower. Are we going to be racing our Fits or something? I'm sure the majority of us would answer no.

congrats, 2legit!

Question...in honest detail, how do the Si seats compare to the Fit seats. I'm looking for more comfortable, supportive seats to go in my Fit, and you happen to have great first hand exp. in both.

Would it be worthwile to swap some Si seats in the Fit?

Cheers, and enjoy!

If you want to be a baller, you keep them both!

I have been tempted by the civic SIs, even taken a few test drives, but have never made the jump.

I know what its like to own a car with a very limited aftermarket, so I guess the Fit seems to have a plethora of stuff available to me.

Still, if you want to build a truely fast ride, the SI is the way to go. Hell, if they made it in a 4d hatchback, I would have bought it.

It's not so much that there is more aftermarket support for the Civic, even though it kind of sounded that way...

It's more because if I am going to throw a couple thousand dollars at a project car, I want to get the most for my money. A Hondata reflash on an Si with some minor bolt-ons is money that is spent much better than anything I would do to the Fit, short of a turbo.

Some may see it differently, but like you said, different strokes.

Yeah I agree man, it's getting old. I really like tC's too. I just decided to stay loyal to Honda because the Fit was such a great car.

Taking delivery tonight! But I had the salesman grabbing the "oh shit" handle on the test drive. Haha!

congrats, 2legit!

Thanks man! I actually really like the seats, if you can get them to switch over they would make a great replacement. And if you could get the Si badge replaced with RS or something it would look so legit...

I actually drove a CR-Z the day before I bought the Si. Want to know the dirrenece between the Fit and CR-Z? Put 6 of your fattest friends in the back of your Fit so that you are all squished in there like tuna. Then get some annoying color changing LEDs for your dash. Voila! You have a CR-Z!

Thanks bro, your car is lookin' sick man! There was absoutely nothing wrong with the Fit. I actually enjoyed driving it a lot, and you can't beat the gas. I'm just looking to start adding some performance stuff, and the GE8's just don't respond well to any bolt ons without a reflash.

If I were going to keep it as a show/cruiser car, it would be a great platform. I just wanted something faster and I got a smokin' deal on the Si. $15,400 out the door and they gave me $15,600 for my Fit. Less than 30k miles on the Si. I just couldn't pass it up.

BTW for anyone interested that might still be reading; now is a phenomenal time to trade in your Fit if you are considering it. The trade in on KBB is damn near invoice on a new base Fit. People are going to be scooping these cars up like crazy the way gas prices keep rising.

I traded my Ranger pickup for the Fit.
I can still carry a lot of stuff.

I recently put 8 snow tires/wheels in the Fit. They were for my Fit and my friends VW Sportwagen. I could still see out my rear window.

A Civic would not be able to do this.

But, if you're happy, we're happy...
