fit weirdness

Don't know if anyone else has done this.....I put one of those 2 dollar solar garden light on the fit antenna...it fits all the way down the antenna perfectly and yes it is giving off an eerie glow. It is pretty stuck on so I don't think it will fly off if it does, I am out two dollars trouble is.....is it too weird?

practical...find your car in a dark lot
safety......people have one more light to see you when you are driving at night

I really should have posted this in the what did you do to your fit today thread......sorry!

I have to see a picture of this.. It sounds very weird and I have always been into weirdness... I also tend to forget where I have parked my car a lot nowadays.

Uh... you're disregarding the potential for OTHER drivers.

On one hand, if its sturdy enough, it can crack the windshield or do other damage to the car behind you.

On the other hand, even if it doesn't do damage directly, it can scare the driver into a panic causing them to react (sometimes poorly).

If nothing else, just make sure it DOESN'T come off, unless you want it to.

The light is interesting, however, I see this thread opening up a whole rash of other weirdness...

Yeah do it! It's you're car, it's fun so enjoy it! Just make sure it's on pretty
solid so it doesn't fly off and hit someone else.

I did something similar many years ago when I had a CB Radio in my car. My
friends and I used to tape a half-inch neon bulb at the very tip top of our steel
whip antennas. Everytime I'd key up the mic and was transmitting that neon
bulb would glow up super bright. So it looked like a bright dot hovering in the
darkness 4 feet above my car as I drove at night. Friends following me in their
car said it looked nice... like I had my own personal Tinkerbell following me.

I'm often dodging debris and truck tire treads on I-95 so I can't imagine this thing flying off would even make me miss a sip of coffee. Maybe if it comes off at night. Things can be disorienting on a dark road because you have no perspective. As for an extra light, it may cause some drivers to focus on it and try to figure out what it is on a dark road. Could be a safety issue because they are looking at it too long and not the road. Then again, you are not responsible for other people's driving skills.

I demand a close-up! This is one of the weirdest, yet most intriguing things I've seen in a while. I see no reason why this won't/couldn't be a new trend. Better than those washer leds, plus, it's s-o-l-a-r. So fitting of our ecologically sensitive Fit image. hahah

Business owners take note - make a shorty antennae with something like this attached to it so it won't come off, and looks like it belongs there. Profit.

I hope so! How can we implement solar power into ricey stuff? Why not put a panel on the roof, and have it go through a small inverter/switch to a battery that powers the led lights under the car instead of neons? Same goes for interior ambient lighting.

Make the panels into a functional spoiler, and get downforce out of it (semi-serious.) Like this: http://members.cruzio.com/~ablaine/sTAwing2.jpg

But you are responsible for any debris you leave.

If a state trooper saw it come off your car, they will give you a ticket for it.

And how YOU react doesn't mean squat, since not everyone drives the same way you do. As it was clearly proven to me 30 minutes ago.

At a double intersection, I am always wary of cars after the first turn, knowing they can turn into the driveway in the small space between the two intersections. I give them room and make every effort to avoid hitting them. And yet, when I made the turn, an SUV nearly plows into me and honks at me. As if it was my fault he's blasting through the first intersection and trying to tailgate me.

I agree with you...which means I disagree with myself. Now my head hurts.

It sounds like it might distract drivers in Tallahassee, who already make a sport of crashing into one another like a pack of myopic Chinese scooterists in bumpercars.

You still won't be able to find your car in a parking lot, when the light on the end of your antenna is eclipsed by all the non-miniature cars around you.
