I'm done modding my Fit
I'm done modding my Fit
This is a list of all the modifications I have done to my Fit Sport:
Viper Ultra Tint -54% All Around
VG Sharkfin Antenna
Lamin-X Gunsmoke Tail Film-Gunsmoke
Headlight Armor Headlight/Foglight Film-Clear
Vision-X Xenon headlight Bulbs
PIAA 500HZ + 600HZ Sports Horn
SS Painted License Plate Frames
Honda Chrome Turn Signal Bulbs
Chrome Front Running Light Bulbs
Chrome Dome Rear Turn Signal Bulbs
LED Map Lights-Cool White
Led Cargo Light-Cool White
Honda Wheel Locks
OEM Element Locking Gas Cap
Hankook Studded Snows on OEM Alloys
De-Badged
I only tinted the windows 54% because we are dark for almost half the year up here. 54% made a big difference keeping the interior cooler while still allowing good nighttime visibility.
The Vision-X bulbs, while better than the OEM units, are still not that good. I am probably going to replace these sometime down the road. I am also going to re-aim the headlights since there is definite room for improvement in that area.
The chrome front bulbs cleaned up the front end. I didn’t like the yellow zit running lights or the egg yolk turn signals. The half-chrome rear turn signals accomplished the same thing.
The PIAA horns were a fantastic upgrade over the embarrassingly ineffective OEM meep-meep thing that Honda calls a horn.
I painted the aftermarket steel license plate frames Storm Silver to match the car
The map and cargo lights are 6-LED units from Superbrightleds.com. These are much brighter than the OEM bulbs.
I de-badged the rear just to clean it up. If I had “TDI”, “Turbo”, “Supercharged”, or some other cool badge, I would have left it on. Since the FS has nothing particularly noteworthy, I just got rid of the name badge.
These were all pretty inexpensive mods, but together, I think they added up to make my FS stand out from the crowd a bit.
I have no plans to modify the engine since an intake/exhaust isn’t going to make much difference in a 1.5 liter anyway. Supercharging would add HP but at the expense of fuel economy, which is why I bought the Fit in the first place.
I will not lower the car either since I live where it snows quite a bit.
I may upgrade the stereo to a digital Nav panel unit once I figure out what most people like the best.
Anyway, that’s it for now. Thanks for letting me share my mods with you. Also, thanks to FF and all of you who shared your ideas that I have used.

your mod list is mostly nik naks and white lights.
i guess it's a refreshing change from all the hellaflush gang. i like how you kept 95% of the car stock and made it to your liking. nice job on the minimal add ons.
i wish i left my fit stock...

After modding several cars/trucks in the past I found several things.
The engineers know the best combination of performance and reliability.
Reliability and wear usually gets worse when you change major components like suspension and engine parts. It’s fun to do, but it usually voids warranty’s and causes more problems than it’s worth.
I bought the Fit to have a reliable, fuel efficient car. Major modding may adversely affect these qualities. I am older now, and have had my fun tweaking cars in past decades. Been there, done that, sort of thing.
The mods I did were either cosmetic, either you like them or you don’t, or enhance the performance of a very poor OEM part. (The horns and cargo light for example)
I get a kick out of seeing the slammed and blown cars in this forum. I can enjoy yours while being very satisfied with mine.
I simply wanted to tweak mine a bit while keeping the major design stock.
I would like to replace the headlight units with a good HID or projector unit. However, I haven’t found an aftermarket source for these that look like they would be substantially better. It’s the same thing for the tail lights. A full blown LED setup would be great. The JDMS don’t really appeal to me since it doesn’t appear that they are full LED. I don’t want partial LED and incandescent. If, (big “if”), Honda ever offers these as upgraded front/rear pieces on upcoming Fits, I may buy them then.
I really don’t care for the OEM alloy wheels. However, unless I can find high quality aftermarket wheels with the exact dimensions and offset as the stock wheels, I’ll keep the originals. I have bought too many aftermarket wheels that had adverse handling characteristics. It’s too bad that Honda doesn’t offer some OEM options for its Fit wheels. ( I don’t care for the look of the Mugens) I guess that’s what you get when you buy the lowest end economy style model the manufacturer makes.

I think you did a really good job with the mods. Its very simple and subtle, your average driver might not even notice them. Id say the real feat is if you are actually done with modding. I originally picked my Fit up far a nice DD that I could light mod..and well we know how thats going, lol

I've only done the following:
-tint
-wheel locks
-body side moldings
-locking gas cap
-lower grill overlay mainly to protect the AC condensor.
09 + Honda Fit Billet Grille
-good coat of wax (if we can call that a mod)
I appreciate all the mod effort & enthusiasm put in their Fits
and love reading about it... but not for me.
I just want economical reliable daily transportation... and the
Fit is certainly that.
