I had a set of wheels comparable to those wheels 10 years ago on a Safari van.. They were 15X8" and only weighed 13 Lbs and were mounted with 205-60s. They looked great and as light as they were the ride and acceleration was great for awhile... Now I have bent a wheel or 2 before but the only time in my life I have seen a car that had never slid into a curb that had a bent wheel center that wobbled like a Huffy bicycle wheel that was taco'd by a 300 lb rider was on that van... Not just one of the wheels but every damned one of them.. I have heard arguments about how strong racing wheels are but that is crap I learned the hard way that this type of wheel is made to absorb shock to prevent damaging expensive light weight suspension components by bending.... I like the look but they don't look wort a damn when they are wobbling and the steering wheel and the whole car is moving side to side.
your argument is irrelevant, you never got me that link to a bent or broken diamond that was mounted on a fit
The wheels that are being discussed aren't near as light weight as the wheels I had used and the van was a much heavier vehicle so I am pretty sure that they would hold up okay.. Wide tires and wheels are more of a fashion statement than a performance necessity on a small car that is already known as being slow to accelerate... The weight, rolling resistance, aerodynamic drag and extreme offset that increase cause torque steer and undue stress on wheel bearings outer CV joints, suspension and steering components need to be taken into consideration by anyone that is thinking about using this type of setup... My car has about twice the torque output of a stock Fit, yet the difference in ride, handling, steering effort, acceleration, braking and top end speed is very noticeably improved by using wheels that are 7.5 lbs lighter and tires that about 3 lbs. lighter than stock... I'm not in any way trying to flame anyone but letting anyone that might be considering doing this know that the end result is only going to be gratifying as a cosmetic thing that is otherwise going to be costly.... It's one of those been there done that things I did about 30 years ago so I do know what I am talking about.
Jmag, just for you I spent 5 minutes googling.

VWVortex.com - Anyone try / own Diamond Racing wheels 13x8 or 14x8 wheels? Pics?
Note that both the AE86 and Mk I Jetta/Golf are substantially lighter than a GD.

From VWVortex:
I can attest to that. Atleast one of my diamonds is bent from daily use. Not sure which one, honestly I don't care, cause the truck is parked and they're coming off.I had 15x8s w/ 195/50-15s, +12 on the front +0 on the rear. (you can find a couple pics by searching my username in the golf1/jetta1 archive)
also, DRWs are NOT hub centric, so good luck getting them balanced, mine ALWAYS had vibration, and killed atleast one wheel bearing.
not worth it just to be cheap, they honestly don't look that great, but they're cheap, but not worth it when you have to deal with vibration and bent wheels.

It was a VW Pickup that I learned my lesson about using over sized wheels and tires on. I still have the 14" alloy wheels I mounted 195 60s on... I went back to the stock wheels and Michelin 165 70 13"s and was astounded at how much better I liked them than the aftermarket stuff... I had a 73 Rabbit that I put a Weber Carburetor on and removed the smog control crap from that would fly... I had about 6 or 800 bucks in it totally including Pirelli P3 tires and had a ball with it... That is how I became hooked on FWD hatchbacks.
you haven't stated any fact, only your opinion... you sir are a f*****
my name is john magana, so jmag for short.
I would take a chance with Diamond wheels in 13" with Hoosier track tires if they would clear the calipers. Presently I am very happy with my RPF1 Enkeis.. I have a set of 16" Final Speed Erasers (MB) wheels that aren't bad with 195 45 16" tires that aren't horrible but not as light as the RPF1s... Just like 20" wheels are used on BMX and Freestyle bicycle wheels because of their weight and strength, smaller diameter wheels and tires do the same for a car... They should be able to build a very light wheel in 14" that Moon Eyes disc wheel covers could be fitted to to reduce wind resistance and improve acceleration from 80 or 90 MPH... The make the disc for the Prius to improve fuel mileage..
