The previous phrase I posted is one of my favorites when people ask me why I don't know something. I just say that I know everything... but I just can't remember it all at once .

The nice thing about posting the full name Clutch Delay Valve with CDV (in Parens) is that people learn. Personally, i've learned a lot by reading and looking stuff up but sometimes it's handy to have the Original Post quantify the topic. Also, you don't need to have the manual to be able to know what benefit this could have. It's auto components which often work on commons sense. I've changed a number of sets of rotors/brakes/pads but haven't had the manual for almost any car I've had. Doesn't mean It can't be done (right).

So... You're saying that everyone with a manual knows what cdv is? I don't think so.

i do want the omni dont get me wrong but what is it that makes that cmc 150$ its really a plunger with a swiveling rod attached to it, the size of the cmc might make a difference but other then that it says the size of the civic 1 on its side (i think its 5/8ths)

no i agree lol if i had known a $24 cmc would work, i would've gotten it. i got the omni because someone else was nice enough to share that he has used it w success. now that you've shared too, people can get rid of the CDV for a cheaper price *thumbsup*

EDIT: the CDV really is that annoying that i was willing to fork $150 to get rid of it. the clutch feels so much better without it

update:

stock cmc -> omni -> autozone brute force cmc -> omni -> autozone duralast cmc

had to call omni twice due to the cmc seal failing first cmc, and the braided clutch line failing second cmc.

i had to replace the autozone cmc once, however i think one of the brands makes poor cmc's (brute force)? pedal died, it clogged. we got another cmc from autozone and it was a duralast $25 cmc and have been running it now for 13,000 miles. i cycled out some of the fluid at 9000 fluid doing this(ranger protocol): Take Care of Your Clutch--the Ranger Protocol - YouTube.

no problems with it so far. was it all worth it for no cdv? i say yes

Makes me grind second gear and I have been driving manuals for 20+ years.

I'm sorry but a cmc cannot "make" you grind second gear. The only possible effect it can have is by not being properly adjusted and then it would effect all gears.

Grinding is usually caused by either a misaligned shifter, worn shift dogs or not fully disengaging the clutch.

and if you have been driving a non-CDV for 20 years, and suddenly, the clutch doesnt work like you expect it to, this happens

i only spent 2 years in my m3 with a cdv delete, and going to the fit my foot is all kinds of confused sometimes. i dont grind much, but bucking and slipping is way up.

because of that this is the one mod I want to do very badly, but since i just made the first payment on the car, i dont have the nerve to yet!

what does the number of payments have to do with anything? Don't trust the quality of your own worksmanship?

more a yardstick for how long ive had the car than anything

a dying clutch slave cylinder was the last straw with the m3. (aside from pushing 200k and fearing a looming rebuild while no longer having a backup car) so it would be kind of hypocritical to ditch one car and then tear apart the new perfectly working one to do similar work

back from the dead
anyone know if the bolt pattern on the 02-05 Civic CMC is the same? because that unit looks like a direct replacement minus the CDV.
Amazon.com: Dorman CM640046 Clutch Master Cylinder: Automotive
all the images look identical to the GE version (including the C-clip pin) bot wonder if the 2 mounting bolts are in the same location.

I'm considering just ordering one, but would love to find the Sach part number crossover since this is an off-brand.

because the OEM one is $105, the aftermarket version is only $33.
Don't feel like blowing $100 if it doesn't work. Don't mind so much if it's only $33.

Just would like to see the clocking of the mounting bolts on the GE to see if they match this (2005 Civic non-Si)

this is the GE8 version for reference:

It's just hard to tell without them being side-by-side. a difference of a few mm can be a deal breaker.
I just want a REAL feeling clutch!

^^ It'll work. The part # from Dorman crosses over to the OEM part number I provided you.

Feel free and check the link below click the "OE Numbers" tab:

Dorman Products - CM640046

Or you can also contact Item9 on this forum as he has some modified CMC that are a direct fit for the "FIT" Lol!

I think that's the best bet. That's what I'm doing whenever I get a chance... was going to do it this summer, but had some other issues... hopefully in the Spring.

The thing I like about Item9's mod is that he uses the actual GE8 CDV which he modifies, you gotta send him yours back after you swap it out for him to prepare the next one, but it's the best thing I've seen yet. He's done it for numerous CR-Z & Fit owners... A+ guy.
