My New DD! (pics included)

Well, I just joined the forums a day ago and you all seem very nice!

Here is my new ride! Its a 2011 Fit Sport with an automatic transmission. So far its been great! Prior to purchasing the Fit I had test driven the 2011 Fiesta and the 2011 Hyundai Elantra which were both nice, but not as nice as the Fit IMO. I ended up going with the Fit for several reasons, primarily though because of the versatility. I like that its a hatchback and it has a TON of space! But I was also attracted to the simplicity of the models and what they had to offer. Alloy wheels were must, and honestly I think they look better then most stock wheels which is nice. The paddle shifters, which seemed more like a gimmick, I think will come in handy with the places I drive (lots of hills). Mileage, 10 drink holders!, neat fold up rear seats, and well, lets just say there were several more factors that peeked my interest... I don't want to bore you with obvious stuff that sold you guys/gals on the car as well!

Lastly, if anyone could answer a few questions for me I would appreciate it!

* Do they come with an antenna? (mine just has the plastic piece with a cap on it)

* Is there a way to get a cargo cover for less then $166?

* Would I be able to install the "Interior Illumination" kit?

Thanks!

Well here she is...

Welcome to the Fit Family haha! Glad you like your new ride man. It's fun getting a new car... And then you start getting dents lol. I'm not a 2nd Gen Fit kinda guy but I did a quick search on the internet and found your cargo cover for a little cheaper than $166

Amazon.com: Honda Fit Genuine Factory OEM 08U35-TK6-110 Cargo Cover - fits the Base and Sport Models 2009 - 2011: Automotive

says $145 with free shipping...

hope that helps.

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys!

Also, thanks for finding me a better price on the Cargo Cover! I'll be buying that as soon as I get back from my Vegas trip... That is, if that evil city doesn't take the rest of my money!

Fits are awesome, I'm looking forward to owning this puppy!

Get back to the dealer - you're missing the rubber ducky antenna it seems. They're suppose to install it at the dealer to prevent damage during shipping.

Thanks, I definitely thought it was odd that the car wouldn't come with an antenna! At first I didn't even notice other then the fact that all the stations a good deal of static.

I'll give the dealer a call tomorrow.

Thanks again!

You may have already looked, but double check for the antenna in the trunk area where your spare is located, and the glovebox. Like neteng101 said, the dealer should have installed it but they may have forgotten.

When I bought mine in March, I think the antenna was in the trunk like Climhazzard wrote. Checked glove compartments? How about the secret space under seat behind driver?

Definitely check under the rear seats as well. Some people found the antenna, rear strakes, and some body plugs there that were not installed by the dealer.....

When I received mine, the rear strakes were missing, so I ordered them and put them in myself.....If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have known about the rear strakes!

Welcome! I like that color. (I also have an 11 A/T sport in Alabaster Silver.)

If you're planning on tinting the car, you might hold off on the cargo cover. I didn't think it was necessary after my tint.

Welcome. I did the same as far as testing the Hyundai and Ford as well. I also was looking at the 2012 Kia Forte5. I really liked it, but it felt cheap compared to the Honda.

Now, get that thing lowered. Looks like its ready for Baja! I forgot how high mine actually was.

LOL, dealer forgot to install it. Make sure they don't charge you for it!

Is there a way to get a cargo cover for less then $166?
There are several dealerships that sell genuine Honda parts and accessories online. I did extensive cost comparison (including sales tax, shipping) between H-and-A Accessories, Bernardi Parts, College Hills Honda, and Amazon. I found that H-and-A Accessories gave me the cheapest total cost because the UPS shipping was much cheaper since it was in-state for me (they are California based). H-and-A sold the cargo cover for $119, then the total was about $145 incl tax and shipping.

Yea, it's part of the PDI list of things the dealer needs to do to your car before you pick it up. At least that was only a minor thing they missed....
