Moving from LX to sport wheels

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of moving my 15" LX stock tires and rims to the 16" sport tires/wheels (I'm in canada).

How would u think the drive / handling would be? Would a sway bar also help

driving a 09 LX 5speed

I'm looking for more grip around corners

Any suggestions

the stock tires have about 20000kms - i use winter tires/on their own rims in the winter.

Anyone interersted I'm in montreal

you can get better grip by using stickier tires on your 15's.

remember that the primary reason why race cars use larger wheels is to clear their brakes. shorter sidewall providing faster turning response and better looks are just some of the good side-effects.

oh, that changes the story then cause your original post stated your goal was only "I'm looking for more grip around corners."

16" looks better on the GE for me so id look around for 16x6.5 or 16x7 wheels.

Dunlop Direzza STARS in 15" but to maximize cornering you need 45 mm offset wheels in 15" of if you go with 16" we are hearing good things about Yokos Parada Spec Z at $80 per. Again you need 45 mm offset wheels 6 or 7" rim width. If you want to stay with stock 15" alloy wheels. 1/4" (6mm) spacers will help immensely for a lot less cost. But I suspect getting aftermarket tires/wheels from tirerack or discount tire direct (Free mounting and shipping) may be the least costly and more efficient use of your money.
good luck.
PS your steel wheels are good choice for good snow tires in winter Montreal. And if you want maximum cornering you can add lowering with stiffer springs/shocks with rear antisway bar or just disconnect front antisway bar to reduce the extravagant understeer in Fits stock if lowering isn't in your game plan.

I'm not planning on lowering the car.

yes the winter tires are on their own steele rims

I'm heading to the us DC region next week and might consider - the 16" honda rims from the sport and matching wheels too

Anyone have suggestions?

& thx in advance

When I bought my Sport, I hated the 16's. All four Dunlops flat-spotted too. And I never drifted, pulled the handbrake, or pushed the tires hard enough to make them slip. I switched to a 15x7" wheel, and am much happier with the results. The ride is much comfier. As for handling, I'm using Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position tires and the 7" tire width is much better as far as handling and cornering stability than the Dunlops were new. And the Dunlops are a traction A tire. Plus, the sizes for the 16x6" Fit Sport wheels are pricey. IMHO, I think you'd be better off spending the money on a different looking 15x7 that's lighter-weight, even if it's more money.
