Problem with passenger door latch

I have an '09 Fit with an irritating problem; the front passenger side door has an intermittent glitch where if a passenger opens the latch before unlocking the door, and then unlocks the door, the latch will not open the door. Either I have to go around to the outside to let them out, or you have to do a little trick with locking/unlocking the door before the latch works again. None of the other doors have this issue. I've taken my car in several times to the dealer service department where they say they can't do anything because they didn't get the glitch (as I mentioned, it's an intermittent problem), or they tell me that that's the way the door is supposed to work (?????). Has anyone else had this issue? Any ideas of what could be wrong? Any ideas on how to get the dealer to take care of the problem? (My Fit is still under warranty, but the dealer service dept. has been extremely uncaring about this issue).

sounds like the door lock solenoid (motor) is getting stuck. happened to my previous VW all the time. i just switched out the solenoid and it was as good as new.
