First Place Finish

My dealership orders all cars with First Place Finish, a paint coating and periodic clean-up service for the interior. Is this a common practice? Costs $500 extra and they tack it onto every sticker. I refused to pay for it and they removed the fee. Is this a gimmick or does it have any value?

Yes it has 500.00 worth of value to the stealership. BUT

So periodic clean up service does this mean the will clean the interior of trash and empty drink cups? 4ever? then it might be a great deal for some that refuse to keep up their car, 500 bucks and drop the Fit off to be cleaned ya I could see that as a selling point.

It means they clean/buff the exterior to remove pollen and sap and bird shit. And they clean any stains off the interior fabric. My question is, do other dealerships add this to every car automatically or is this just my dealer.

I've never heard of it and nor was it offered to me. It's definitely something for the dealership to get the last few bucks out of your pocket.

$500 for car wash and wax plus interior detailing for life is not necessarily insane, I guess. But no, that's specific to your dealer.

Have a few kids... $500's looking pretty good to get that PB&J out of the back seats and those footprints off the back of the driver's & Passenger seat....

I kid...

I'd be worried about the washing & waxing... is it a speed job? are they making sure not to swirl the paint?

Definitely specific to the dealer.

Each dealership offers something like it, some call it a "Paint and Interior Protection." I know one dealer said if the stain doesnt come out, the company would have service master come to where ever is convenient for you and get it out. I heard a bunch of horror stories about claims. Don't ever bother with it.

I call it a waste of money, and more money that can be used for mods
