Almost lost it today
Pushed it a little to much today. Just got new tires put on the fit a few days ago and was really pushing the car today. 5th gear going about 80 and hit into the off ramp on the highway. Real tight turn with kind of a pitch in the road. Heel tow hard into it and half way into it the turn i lost the backend of the car. Tail spin wwwweeeeeeeeeeee barly stayed on the road. It was almost game over for the fit.

Whoa! You're back after slamming everyone in this forum! That's heel and toe by the way (driving technique)... Worse, if your Fit had to be towed. Then you'd really need to heal from it. And new tires also have a break-in period. :D You just felt the result...

Lol I know you're gonna say "that guy is fucking nuts" but don't brake if you start to loose it. Floor it and counter steer. She's gotten away from me a couple of times and its the scariest shit in the world and everything in your brain screaming "BRAKE=STOP, PRESS THAT SHIT!" but hit the gas. Mine has always settled and pulled through. Glad you didn't go careening into a cement pillar though as I have seen far too many do.

Damn ! Calm down son! Lol

:rotfl:heal from it .... Yes tires have a break in period.. 500 miles or so of easy driving. I'm around 450 miles of highway driving (I consider them broken in). Had to visit my mom last weekend which did most of the break in. The cornering speed going into the turn is not something out of the norm for me. I have a few sections of road on my way home from work that I push the fit on. The real cause to the loss of control I believe is from my confidence level. I had a set of falken azenas 615's on the fit before. The tire hit the wear bars so I decided it was time for a quieter tire and a little more tread life. The compound is just different and I was use to it holding a much tighter line and the tires just couldn't do it. im on bridgestone potenza re760's now |

Spelling fixed... Lol slamming everyone on the forum, not really just pushing to get people to post up something besides oil changes and car washes. Yes i know heel and toe is a driving technique, sorry i didnt know i needed to explain it with ()'s.
:rotfl:heal from it .... BTW I did change my oil today (non-technical)... and posted it even! :D I'm healed. I guess you are too since you're back... Peace! :wavey: |

I think what really saved me more than anything was I had both hands on the wheel. Sounds dumb but I always used to keep one hand on the shifter but now I keep both hands on the wheel and that stoped me from counter steering to much. |

Hitting the gas may not have done much good in 5th gear, 80MPH which is the speed that a stock GD3 hits the rev limiter in 3rd and well into the power band in 4th.

I think it's great that you have lightened up.... I am sure that a lot of the guys and some of the gals here wouldn't bother to talk to me if I were to see them on the street somewhere or the neighborhood WallyWorld and say hi to them but if I saw them and they saw me in our cars we would at least wave and maybe pull over to park.. If we drove cars with less personality or just considered what we drive as just inexpensive dependable transportation we wouldn't be here but on a religious website, watching porn or on Facebook.:wavey:
