Steel Rim question

Hello,

I have just ordered my first set of winter tires ever. I got Bridgestone Blizzaks WS-60, in size 175/65/R15 from the recomendation of many users on this site. I have a 2010 Honda Fit Sport.

I bought my tires at Costco, for $468.XX (all inclusive). However, they said they do not carry the steel wheels that match.

I went to my local Honda dealer and they said they said that the Honda Fit has a unique steel rim, size is 15 X 5 1/2. They want $83 per rim.

My question is do I need to get the 15X5 1/2 or would 15X6 work just as well? 15X6 seem to be carried my most places and are cheaper than what Honda is asking.

Also, just out of curiosity do the Honda Steel wheels look aestehically different from plain old run of the mill black steel wheels? Honda Logo?

thanks

15x6 will work.

personally, i'd check the local craigslist for a deal. as long as it's the same hub bore and 4x100 pattern and the offset is between +53 and +35, you should be OK.

wft is your local shop saying. as noted above, 15x6 will work just fine. black steel wheels will look pretty ghetto but you can get covers for them if you want.

i just ran without covers though cause i liked the stolen hubcap look. hahaha

15x6 will work just fine. I have 185/60/15 winter tires on 15x6 steelies from a 2004 Civic & they fit with no problem.

Just remember, the GD Fit Base ran 14" steelies & the GD Fit Sport had 15x6 alloys. No reason for them not to work on the GE.

Craigslist Wheels are even cheaper. I got a set of Integra 15" alloys for $50.

Search for integra Wheels, Civic Wheels, Integra Rims, Civic rims, 4x100 Honda

something will come up for the right price that will look better than steel wheels.

The 15x6 will work as well or better than te alloys unless the offset is much different. Yu want to check the horizontal backspace - distance from backplate to the inside of the outside wheel rim - to see if they're within a half-inch anyway. Search for a drawing of the wheel dimensions to see the correct one.

Whatever you do don't pay $350 for steel wheels from Honda. Search Craigslist, junkyard, Honda-Tech. Just find some 15" 4x100 steel wheels from a Honda. Probably any Honda would be fine.

I agree with one exception. Many honda 4 lugs aren't 4x100 so Prelude & accord wheels won't work. Most of the 15" wheels are Accord & Prelude since they were the more premium vehicles in Honda's lineup. Most civics & integras were 14" with only the later Integras and the 2001-05 civics had 15" alloys as options (or standard on higher end models). 15" steel wheels weren't that common as most steelies were still 14". That said, there were a TON of Integras and Civics sold and being a very popular modding car, a large percent of those alloy wheels would make it to craigslist. Hence why I picked my integra alloys for winter snows.

Wanted to add you could also get these brand new:

Unique 15 inch custom wheels - Discount Tire/America's Tire

They're not hubcentric but whatever, i've taken these on a road course/went off/jumped curbing, etc. and they didn't budge or have a scratch or bend on them.

Circa 2003/4?

What offset and bore should I look for on wheels for a 2011 Base?
