Shame we can't get this in north america

Pics Aplenty: Honda releases a boatload on the 2012 Euro Civic [w/video]

GAFIT Nov 3, 2011 01:08 PM

Wow! I'll take that with the diesel. I wish Honda would offer a 5-door Civic here :(

SSMTEN Nov 3, 2011 01:27 PM

Seen them in person. The 3-5 door civics are fugly. This is marginally better though.

JDMxGE8 Nov 3, 2011 03:27 PM

Wish they were available in the States...

If that car had been available here, I would have bought it instead of the Fit.

cgpEJ6 Nov 3, 2011 04:39 PM

Not feeling it at all actually, I've never liked the 5-door Civic and haven't liked the 3-door since the EP3.

kenchan Nov 3, 2011 05:47 PM

yah, those clean diesels are cool. i might have to try one (VW TDI or something) down the road. :)

specboy Nov 3, 2011 06:28 PM

If I remember correctly, the Euro Civic rides on the same platform as the FIT. Rear Torsion beam, Drum brakes, & all. That said, it's nice looking and I'd trade for it. One thing I noticed is there's a USB input as well as a VIDEO input... what's that about?

I'll take one with either a Diesel or the 140hp Gas engine.

Really gorgeous--even the color is beginning to grow on me ;)

neteng101 Nov 3, 2011 11:18 PM

I don't think they need to make it a 5-door with that sloping roofline - just make a bigger Fit with a traditional hatch that maxes out space utility. The rear torsion beam gives me pause though - but it is what allows the magic seats to go into a car too.

I like it. I get the feeling Honda doesn't like us here in the US.

vickenp Nov 4, 2011 10:50 AM

even with the fits holding capabilities - there are times I would want just a little more passenger room - i would think this 5door civic would Fit the bill

I believe there is still room on honda sales floors for both

honda canada u listening

Even though I don't like it, cars like that are always fascinating to me just to see what interchangeable parts they might have.

EpilepticFit Nov 4, 2011 12:19 PM

The last one was so much nicer looking. This one's gone too goofy. Look at that rear tail light cluster. The proportions are all wrong. And no visible exhaust! No ways.

A euro spec Civic would probably 25k$ or so.
I loved the 06-11, not too sure about this new one.

Acura could sell it instead of the CSX (canada) like they do with the euro accord, they have the brand name to sell more expensive stuff and they used us to "spaceshipw" with the ZDX.

pokems23 Nov 4, 2011 08:11 PM

If they would just release a diesel Fit in the US then I would rather have that.

Why? It's a city car, not a highway cruiser, and even in Europe there is no diesel fit. The hybrid version is there (well, in Japan) if you want better fuel economy (and it's more eco friendly than diesel emissions).

SenBlue09 Nov 9, 2011 02:46 PM

UGLY. it looks like a cross between a ford fiesta and a hyundai veloster. and dont get me started on that neon barf green. GE looks better, thank god i wont have to see that car on the road. :o

m1sf1t Nov 12, 2011 03:25 AM

For some reason the 5 door is growing on me, but the 3 door looks stupid. Aesthetics aside, if Honda came to North America with a diesel vehicle I'd want one. The only problem is that they would probably want 30 grand plus for it in Canada.
