Arm Rest for M/T

Is there any reason why this won't work with the M/T Fit? The info on Accessories at Honda.com says it's "not available if your vehicle has a manual transmission." I bought it from College Hills and they seem to think it will work for either. Just wondering if anyone out there has had a problem with the arm rest being in the way when shifting. Thanks!

My car is MT and it works just fine. Best mod you can do IMHO.

I've got an AT but I cannot see how the armrest would be in your way. Even extended out it doesn't get close to the shifter.

I sat in my buddy's A/T, and he has it. Didnt seem like it would be an issue. I ordered it for my M/T a few days ago. Should have it tomorrow.

I've got the armrest too, in my 2012 M/T Base Fit; after I ordered it and before I saw it installed, I saw the same warning on that page.

It works just fine, and I far prefer it to the smaller armrest that comes attached to the driver's seat in the Sport.

Yep, just Honda playing it safe against any potential lawsuits if someone gets in an accident and says the extended armrest caused the crash because it blocked their ability to shift. I've had mine for two years and love it. Not even close to the shifter.

You know, I had a feeling this might be the reason - just a case of CYA.

Thank you all for your quick answers! I ordered the arm rest a while ago in anticipation of delivery (hopefully next week!!) of my 2012 Fit Sport, and started to second guess my decision after reading the disclaimer at honda.com. Thanks again all for your input and assurances!

Ok, I just installed my armrest. Drove around the block and I bump my elbow against it a little bit, but not enough to be annoying. My shift knob probably sits a full 2 inches lower than stock, so that probably has something to do with it. Seems to be just fine with the M/T.

Arm Rest for M/T

I'm also thinking that it would likely come in most handy on the highway when not doing a lot of shifting anyway. If it got annoying around town, it's easy enough to swing it up and out of the way.

BTW, SSMTEN, that's a fine looking ride!!

It's a cya from Honda. The armrest doesn't interfere at all, just get used to pulling the parking brake from the side. Had mine installed for almost 3 yrs now.

I think I'm going to do this very soon with my 2011 M/T. Need more space for stuff but I don't want it out in the open.

Depends. If the leather part is slid all the way forward, yes. Or if I am grabbing the shifter side-hand. But if I shift over-hand (which I am actually starting to really prefer) I really dont have a problem.

Removing the drivers seat arm-rest should be cake. One of the two stud-like bolts in there on mine however, is totally stuck. I cannot get it out. I rounded off the nut itself so barring a miracle, its in there for good. So for the time being, I just have a hole there, cant put the cap on.

NickEMangione - Yes, I'm expecting delivery this week: an M/T Sport OBM - can't wait! I ordered it back in early October and the delivery date range is Dec. 10 - 14. Meanwhile I've been driving my son's '09 M/T Sport while he's away at college.

BTW, I'll keep you in mind next time I lock myself out of the house or car!
