Cool Newbie ???? On Light Fitment

OK, I am a new Fit owner. Wasn't even looking for one when I bought it. I'm a hip grandma (only 45 come on) and want to customize my new car. Got tinted windows (legal of course if you can tell by my user name), installed brushed aluminum interior dash/door trim. Looking at either tinting the headlights and taillights with film or replacing them with some cool aftermarket.

Here is where the problem comes. I see reference to GE8 and GD8. What is that about? Europe vs US? I have also seen some folks on eBay selling parts saying they won't fit USDM. Is this headlights only? Or are the tail lights different as well. Would like to get some LEDs in but am worried. I have seen some posts saying they got JDM rear lights which was the wrong thing to do as they didn't fit. I understand the whole SAE/DOT thing but just want to make sure the ones I choose (which are legal of course) will fit. Can anyone help??

GE vs GD is chassis code. GD=08 and older GE=09 and newer for the USDM. Headlight replacement's seem to be hit or miss for fitment. Mostly miss from what I've seen though. Tail Lights should be interchangeable as far as I know. Have you seen the JDM Tail's? They aren't led but they do look nice! Hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks. That explains some. I have seen that the JDM is not supposed to be LED although I have seem some ads that seem to portray that (or they are Depo under the heading of JDM). I am trying to find some that have the red lens opposed to clear lenses with red LEDs so that they stay street legal in the US (or at least in my state). Don't need no reason to be pulled over by the boys in blue or brown (OK, the brown seems to be going green in my state). And no, we don't get "professional courtesy" in my state.

Anyway, the headlight taillight thing has me bouncing back and forth trying to figure out what will fit. One foreign seller said yes they fit but seemed to be the same company as another saying no way.

I might skip the headlights for now and work on the taillights cause what you provided seems that most will fit. Thanks!

There is an actually LED taillight that come on the JDM fit's but it's not cheap and there is a decent waiting period for getting them over here if I remember correctly. Axxis is a brand to look at too if you want LED's. There should have been a group by going here somewhere. Sorry I can't really link anything as I'm on my phone at the moment . Feel free to post links to stuff you find and I or others could probably help you in whether or not it will fit.

Where in oregon are you if you don't mind me asking?

In Albany about 30 miles south of Salem on the I5 corridor. Right now I'm in Bend at a conference in central Oregon.

I saw the few group sales but they were a few months ago. Guess I'll just hang out and see what comes along.

The Depo lights are easy to put in and work great. You just have to swap bulb sockets for the LED's. Headlights are another story. If you don't retrofit it's not worth even looking (I've already tried for over a year and come up empty handed.) The only thing close are these http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-10-Fit-DR...item336f02aa7c but some users have had fitmet/wiring issues. Plus they're as expensive as doing a DIY retrofit. The reason for the headlight's lack of fitment is that the JDM Fit is shorter in the front and has entirely different headlights. The JDM rear is shorter but it doesn't affect the tails.
