whistling sound?

Hi,

I have a 2012 fit base with MT and less than 300mi on it.

I hear what seems to be a slight whistle, mainly when I decelerate and only when in gear (disappears as soon as I step on the clutch). It seems to do it in all except 1st gear. The noise comes from the center or the right of the car. The pitch is speed related (higher at higher speed...).

It sounds like air at high pressure (kind of like a slight jet engine sound)

It's not huge but it makes me a little worried. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I'm not sure I heard that at the very beginning, maybe I was too much concentrated on my shifting (haven't been on a manual for a while) and on other things to notice.

Any idea? Is that normal?

Thanks

It's the sound of a fit. Enjoy it!

Really I think it's just the valve train timing chain etc. Noises you don't hear in other cars make it into the cabin on the Fit due to the position of the engine and the resin valve cover. If you're concerned, take it in to the dealer and have them drive it.

Hondas make some of the most robust cars out there (and it has a warranty for when they mess up). Relax.

It could also be the A/C system. Ours whined in our 08 CR-V (which a TSB was issued and thus fixed) and Fit does this too (more on highway driving driving at speed).
